Off-topic: Back online, sort of
I'm back online, sort of. At least at work, and hopefully at home soon as well. I'm moved into the new condo, but it was not a smooth move.

Pardon my rant, but I just have to vent.

I didn't finish painting the new place until the day before the move, and I was still packing when the movers arrived on Friday morning. The carpet installers were several hours late, and the tile installer had to be rescheduled for Monday (yesterday), because of a scheduling conflict on their end. Because of the tile installation (which was supposed to happen before move-in), the place was without a working bathroom all day yesterday and last night. So I stayed elsewhere last night. Hopefully, when I get home from work today, grouting will be complete, and there will no longer be a toilet sitting in my living room. :hurts: My DSL is still not working correctly, even though I had the phone service turned on 2 weeks prior to moving day, to be sure to have internet access when I moved in. A certain phone company whose name begins with V is on my current shit list, since this is the 2nd time I've had extended problems with their internet access after a move. And to top everything off, my computer desk and monitor self-destructed as I attempted to rearrange things in the spare bedroom Sunday night. My old desk was made of some sort of "wood by-product", and one side of it buckled as I moved it across the room, sending the monitor tumbling to it's death. :argh: Yes, I know I should have removed the monitor before I tried moving the desk. But I was tired, and attempted to save a few steps. Plus, I've been looking for a good excuse to get a flat panel monitor anyway. So I've now got a nifty LCD monitor and a new glass & metal desk.

That's my moving story, and I'm sticking to it.

1. Sounds like a normal move to me!
Not smooth, just normal. I so feel for you, who doesn't HATE moving? It will be delightful soon!

Funny you should mention your phone problems. I got a call from a friend a few days ago. They had all kinds of problems getting their phone turned on too. I don't remember it taking weeks to get phone service. Have I just not moved in a while, or is my memory failing me?

3. Bless ya, sweetie.

When we finally meet, drinks are on me. Hey, there are some pretty good festivals coming up in good old Lowell. Meet ya on the common area.

Hang in there! After my last move I told my husband that it was so awful that the only two ways I'm ever moving again are: 1) feet first or 2) I win the lottery and junk everything but the books and start over. (Only one of those scenarios is likely, sigh!)

4. I'm now back online at home
Verizon insisted that my problem was already resolved when I called to yell at them to fix my account this evening. Of course, it was still broken. But about 15 minutes later, it magically started working again. It feels good to be connected again. I was having a bad case of internet withdrawl yesterday, so I actually went in to my workplace on a holiday. Hell, I couldn't stay at home anyway, due to the lack of a working bathroom.

Now on with the unpacking...
