2. I got my eye on them
I dont have any beef with the sox, hey if they both make it, I'll have a half chance of a win, win situation, and if both make it, it means the Yankees wont, and thats the real joy thus far.

3. I heard that, Kleeb
Isn't it bad enough that I'm suffering with the way they are playing (or forgetting how to) this year? LOL--sorry, I had to get my 2 cents in.

4. Ha I love ya lol
Edited on Fri May-06-05 05:58 PM by JohnKleeb
but I dont have any sympathy for them, they've been teh division winners since I was 11, and they stole an ACLS game from my team when I was 9, besides, their own mistakes are biting them in the ass. You know, I dont hate all Yankee fans, just stupid ones who all they can do is be bragging jerks.
BTW the Yankees last didnt make the playoffs when I was in 1st grade, and the Orioles last made it when I was in 5th. Come on let me have my joy lol. But really though, your front office made some huge mistakes, thats why they are where they are right now, not my cursing them last fall, but front office blunders.

5. No argument that George sucks...
But Torre rocks. When the S man jerk was keeping his nose out (Like in 98 for example when they had probably the best team in recent history of any ball club) they were free to focus on playing ball. They had overall, a team of players that were excellent, loved the game and no superstars. Even Jeter, while that year was categorized in the top 3 short stops, and hitting equally well, the team didn't tolerate the "superstar" crap, and everyone was fine with that. Steinbrenner decides to play baseball God with his fat wallet, as if they were chess pieces and kablam! Enter Roger Clemens. There goes solid baseball in NY. I didn't think I'd be ranting about baseball today, of all things. I need to get back to my Philosophy. Thanks for the chuckle. I cannot find anything bad to say about the Orioles. Too close to home, since until recently, we were their farm club.

6. Torre knows what its like to lose
and hes not a dickhead for the most part in my observations. Steinbrenner thinks the best team is a team of all stars, hes wrong, you guys didnt need A-Rod, I hear the only reason why A-Rod was even acquaired was to say hah-hah to the sox, well the jokes on y'all because A-Rod is still great but losing Soriano was a mistake that will haunt, there are other young and up and comers that George traded as well.

7. agree on Soriano
HUGE mistake.

Even if you weren't a Yankee fan, the team that Vinessa mentioned above had to be admired from a baseball perspective. The core of that team came up through the Yankee farm system, and they were just plain good.

Steinasshole has pillaged the farm system for superstars and I'm afraid the string has run out.

Steinbrenner's trying to buy a championship makes it pretty hard to be a Yankee fan.

btw - the team that was kicking the Yanks but when I was in 5th grade was the Orioles!

8. They seemed to be a well balanced team at least then
Like not everyone was a big name but they had class and could play, guys like Brosius, who really blossomed when it matterd, like you don't need all stars to win. Yes the Yankee teams of the mid 90's were mostly developed by the Yankees but post 2000, Steinny had to go after the big names, its why we lost our ace but I think he should feel foolish for leaving the orioles now.

9. Hey Kleeb, I am kind of happy with the O's
There is a certain amount of glee that any baseball fan can take with the O's doing so well. They are in the division that 'went nuclear' on their payrolls. There is a little bit of that 'rooting for the underdog' thing that comes up.

Course, you know I am a died in the wool Red Sox fan, so I can get away with that. I still want the Sox to win, but it's a great thing for competitive baseball in smaller market towns when an upstart does well. (Damn, I sound like a Democrat.)

12. theres another
Seriously, the guy was one of the best hitting second basemen I ever seen, Steinbrenner and Cashman are fucking idiots, ooh lets just taunt the red sox without realizing that they're not the only team in the league by getting A-Rod, god what a bunch of morons lol, they're paying for it now though, I am telling you, Steinbrenner's ego is getting the better of him, he thinks you guys only have to deal with the red sox the way he acts.

14. Seriously
You guys dont need to get a big name star or two every year, get some role players, etc and that makes a team works. I really think a lot of the moves made were made by him to show off. BTW, thanks for being civil, there are some Yankee fans who act like the yanks are beyond criticism etc.

15. Vinessa and I had an agreement last fall
I won't overly bash the Yanks and she won't overly bash the Sox. This is quite civil and should last until Oct.

Besides, now that the Sox have won a WSC, I can be more magnanimous. I can even admit that I admire Jeter's grit. He is a 'true Yankee' in their tradition. And I like Joe Torre. And the Yankees were a class act during the Red Sox 'rings' ceremony.

Okay, I'm done.

17. I know that your tongue is firmly implanted in your cheek
and I love you for it. Thanks TayTay. Very big of you, since you have every reason to gloat. Steinbrenner makes it a challenge to be a Yankee fan, and that is the mark of a really trashy owner. He of all people doesn't get the magic of history and emotion with that ballclub. Ah, well, I have to admit, that even I was happy to see the Sox win last year. I truly thought it was a good omen for John Kerry. I think the whole competition thing with Boston is a great big marketing ploy. The whole "reverse the curse" thing. Blech! I just want to see good baseball with players that love the game. And of course, the pinstripes winning is a nice bonus. :) Probably a good thing I've been too busy to watch this season.

18. Sox and Yankees fans are connected
And it is mostly good. (Except for some goober fans who can't allow the rivalry to live on the field no t in the stands. I was sickened by those fans in Boston who interefered with Sheffield back in early April. No class at all. AT least the Sox did the right thing by suspending their season tickets for the year.)

I try never to gloat. First of all, I still get a little thrill every time I hear the phrase, World Champion Boston Red Sox. I still have stars in my eyes from the win last year. (Only I was supposed to get an even better win the next Tuesday, but I digress.) Second of all, gloating offends the baseball gawds (of Boston anyway) and next thing you know, wham, something goes wrong and it's 86 years between Championships. (Oh Lord am I ever a New Englander, geez.) Third, it will require working harder to get another win. Work, work, work. The New England mantra. I think I'm going to go live somewhere else for a little while and learn to relax. Work, harder, work longer, worker more efficiently. I need a vacation! Work, work, work. I thought baseball was supposed to be fun!
