John Kerry on Harmful Changes to “Roadless Rule”

Administration’s changes pave the way for logging in National Forests

Below is a statement from Senator John Kerry on the Bush administration’s actions today to open up nearly a third of all remote national forest lands to road building, logging and other commercial ventures:

“The Bush administration's drive to open up our rare wild forests to logging is the latest attempt to sell off America's natural resources to the highest bidder. They're abandoning government's responsibility to preserve fish and wildlife habitat for sportsmen and clean drinking water for millions of Americans.

“The roadless protections this administration is destroying were finalized after years of scientific study, 600 public hearings and a record number of public comments, but this administration is instead catering to a narrow and powerful interest.”

Thank you Senator. I concur.

1. Holocaust Remembrance Day
Statement by Senator John Kerry In Observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day

“Holocaust Remembrance Day is a time to honor and remember the millions of innocent lives lost in one of the darkest periods in all of world history. It should also be a reaffirmation of our vow to never forget the evil that comes from bigotry and intolerance. We have a responsibility to stand up and affirm human dignity everywhere around the globe where it is in peril. We can never forget or ignore what happened during the Holocaust, and we must never allow it to be repeated -- any time or anywhere.”

members because they were Democrats.

In Germany they first came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me -
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

Never Again! And the American Taliban had better watch out because they are startint to sound just like the National Socialists in 1933 Germany.
