New Video from JK website
Dear Friend,

There are moments in our work together when it's important to step back, look each other in the eye, and decide what we need to do next.

This is one of those moments.

The Republican Party’s leaders have set America on an extraordinarily dangerous path. We are no longer just debating the merits of one policy over another. It’s far more fundamental than that. The far right seems set on a path that challenges the fundamentals of how we make our democracy work best for all of us. I can’t literally sit in your living room and talk about what’s going on and how we need to rise to the occasion. So, I’ve chosen the next best thing, recording a video message that I hope each and every member of the johnkerry.com community will take the time to watch.

It’s essential for us to come together right now because, every day, Republican leaders are crossing lines that should never be crossed:

The line that says a leader in the House of Representatives should never carelessly threaten or intimidate federal judges.
The line that says a leader in the Senate should never accuse those who disagree with his political tactics of waging a war against people of faith.
The line that says respect for core constitutional principles should never be undermined by a political party’s quest for power.
And, most important of all, the line that says a political party’s leaders should never let their obsession with amassing power overwhelm the needs and interests of America’s families.
The enclosed video message addresses the vitally important moment that our nation has reached. Decisions are about to be made that will shape America’s future. I urge you to take a few minutes to watch the video – and to forward it to your friends. But, most of all, I encourage you to join with the entire johnkerry.com community in committing yourself to acting to give voice to our values in the critical days ahead and holding Republicans in Washington accountable.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

1. My, that's intense.
The gloves are off, and he's naming names. I love it. Our John has shifted into wrath-of-god mode.

This is what I call leadership.

2. I love the video
He is really calling them out on these actions, but managing to still sound like the reasonable rational one in the fight. Someone has to define their agenda as radical and state ours in a sympathetic way. I think Kerry is answering the Olyphant question about how much of the 71 Kerry was still there from the Kennedy Center thing with this and other recent activities.

I just wish this were the President talking to the nation :( about Congress's unwillingness to work with him for the national good.

3. Very nice
I wish he were speaking from the Oval Office too, but he's being a very nice shadow president. ;)

4. Oh man,
so do I...

I had this thought last night. I was reading the paper and when I came to the article about the Bolton hearing there was that picture of Kerry, Biden and Dodd with their heads together. I was looking at the photo and noticed Kerry's LiveStrong bracelet.

And I thought this: If this was any other politician in the world he would have worn the bracelet for the campaign and then lost it in a drawer. Not our John. He believes in what that bracelet stands for, and he'll wear it till it falls apart. He is the same person he was in 1971, just more mature and experienced in the ways of the world. :loveya:

6. Voice from the underground
Amazing! This reminds me General DeGaulle talking to the French people on the radio from England, during the Nazi occupation and the Fascist Vichy regime here in France.

And I compared the video to the one from November on the site that I hadn't seen before. What strikes me is that already in November he knew exactly what Bush's agenda was while on TV they speculated about a more moderate second-term Bush. Just laughable! And, BTW, Kerry really looks much better now than he did back then. Very, very attractive!

8. Love that.
Yes, it really has that feel - president-in-exile! Wonderful point.

9. Cool comparison!
Yes, indeed, he's looking rested and well-recovered from the campaign season. And he's happy to be fighting the good fight over in the Senate. He's still "reporting for duty" every day. :)

10. Simply amazing
He never stopped fighting for us, but now it's like he is super energized, taking up the causes that affect us all and endanger our freedoms. He has been taking it right to them and that is truly the reason why I respect and admire the man.
