Call me a freak
but I don't have a problem with gun control legislation. I admit this issue may hurt us some places but it also has helped some as well and it is my opinion that gun control is not a bad thing to push. I don't think people should have assault rifles, maybe I am kind of biased since a classmate of mine was shot to death last spring but I do not like guns, my great uncle also shot himself. I am not a historian but I believe the support for gun control laws came about as a result of having people like President Kennedy, MLK, and Bobby Kennedy murdered, among others. I don't like guns I guess. I dont mind if people want to hunt but I don't see the need for people to have assault rifles. I also admit this is an issue I can not properly debate. I guess I dont like guns, I get irriated when people on the left want us to take the NRA's position. Kerry I think addressed the failure to renew AWB pretty well in my opinion, it does help terrorists. Anyhow thanks.

1. We've always recorded new gun sales
That's the really dumb part to me. New gun retailers have always kept a record of who has bought guns. Why not extend it to used gun sales retailers too? Why not check and make sure you aren't selling a gun to a criminal? We've always had restrictions on varying kinds of arms sold too. Most of these people stop cold when I ask them if they want people to drive around with rocket launchers in their pickups, like they do in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of them. There are actually a few who think that should be just fine. :eyes:

We're right on gun responsibility legislation. The NRA is a gun industry lobby, just like any other lobby. It's about selling more guns. And creating a political wedge issue in order to do it.

4. Thats because some of those people you talk to
are the type that fantatize about a civil war or revolution in the country. While I agree great change is needed to our country, I dont want blood shed to be the answer.

6. Or something
They think their guns are going to protect them from government tyranny. Delusions of Grandeur.

2. I liked Wes Clark's comment the other night on Maher, who is still
irritates me but less so recently, He said, "if you want to fire an assault weapon, we have a uniform and a pair of boots for you" ! Otherwise no one needs one!

7. you're a freak , i'm a freak
i agree completely. i'm glad Kerry never changed his position and for all the attacks he got for the hunting he was making a point that gun control does not mean you can't hunt anymore.

8. You know the thing is
The people who want the dems are constantly critical of the dems for changing their positions because they think the voters will like it, ummmm this is doing that too. I am glad he never changed his position too. I am not sure if I am right about why gun control legislation was originally brought up but I believe the assassinations of the 60's were part of it.

9. Too many freakin' guns!
The more guns we have the less safe we seem to be. I don't think Baltimore would be the homocide capital if weren't for guns, guns, and more guns. We're always going to have deerhunting in rural Maryland, but unfortunately some people hunt other people. They shoot famous people to get attention or they get into gang wars. Which is why there should be some sort of limit on assualt weapons or any sort of gun. And Yes, terrorists get them too.

11. Yay Os! But Brian Roberts ain't god....
No Second Coming of the Brothers Robinson (Brooks, Frank) yet, but it is good.

Don't like hunting either, but it's a fact of life in rural MD. Also some people are impoverished and need something like deer to supplement their diet. Also someone was nice to give deer steak to the local food bank. They don't get alot of meat.

Frank btw is doing a great job managing the Nats. Yeah, I understand hunting for survival obviously, I should have made myself a wee bit more clear, I hate hunting for sport.

13. LOL I KNOW they weren't brothers!
There was this commercial with Frank and Brooks in a bar joking about how they were brothers, so we call them brothers here.

Hunting as a sport I don't get. Strange that Kerry and Bush both hunt for sport, which I feel is wrong. But no one's perfect...

18. The late Warren Spahn
My dad met him and Ted Williams among many others while he was waiting tables in the late 90's. Anyhow back to the topic at hand, I guess its my personal experiences that make me hate guns.

19. Another reason I hate guns is because of mental illnesses.
I have mental illnesses and have been hospitalized. It is terrible some of the stories that the other patients have about guns. They have an episode and they do something stupid with a gun like shoot others and/or themselves. If there weren't so many guns, would there be all that damage? Maybe some blackeyes, but not all that carnage.

Sorry about that kid who got shot at your school. That is such a waste.
