And he IS wonderfully in touch with his motherly side unlike SOME fathers in this messed up country. One of my favorite things about Kerry was the way he would speak so sincerely about his good relationship with his daughters, even referring to himself repeatedly as "a Dad." As someone who HATES it when women with children are referred to as "Moms" as if they do not have lives or identities of their own apart from their role as parents, I was shocked to hear someone, let alone the Dem nominee for president, use that expression to describe himself. I almost never hear men do that, particularly male celebrities. And politicians? I really don't think I've ever heard a male politician say, "I'm a Dad." So, if I didn't adore Kerry before I heard him makes those comments, my adoration was cemented thereafter.

I loved that MA senator ad where he was roughhousing with his daughters on the playground. Dads usually don't play so physically with their daughters like that, but my dad used to play catch with me, so it really hit a nerve.
I used to love it when Vanessa and Alex got on and talked about their dad. It was corny, but sweet like the hamster story.
