Senator John Kerry, Senator Edward Kennedy and Representative Barney Frank, all federal Democrats from Massachusetts, wrote to both the governments after a meeting Kibria’s daughter Nazli Kibria had with Barney Frank recently, according to a news release made available to the news agency on Saturday.
Kerry was the Democrat presidential candidate who lost to President George W Bush in US elections in 2004. The letters were addressed to the secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, and to the Bangladesh ambassador to the United States, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.
Nazli met the Congressman to discuss her father’s assassination in the grenade attack on January 27 in Habiganj that also left four opposition activists killed.
