Kerry in NTSB dispute with Reid, Kennedy 3/31/05
Article from today's Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2005/03/31/ntsb_slot_has_kennedy_kerry_at_odds/?rss_id=Boston+Globe+--+National+News

This is a Geek fight. On the one hand we have Sen. Kerry who was asked by the Airlines Pilots Association to appoint someone with technical expertise to a technical job. On the other hand you have Sens. Reid and Kennedy who want to appoint someone with proven Administration experience.

See how this spins out in DU.

1. Hmmm...
Kennedy has been in touch with Reid regarding his support for Higgins but has not played a major role in pushing her candidacy, said aides to the Massachusetts senator. Higgins was Kennedy's staff director on the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee from 1981 to 1986.

Sounds like maybe the Globe (per their usual) trying to push the Kerry vs. Kennedy angle????? :eyes:

2. Ya think?
They get off on this stuff. I was going through the press archives when I was looking up Bolton stuff recently and I was struck by how many downright dumb stories the Globe has published in the "Kerry's not a Kennedy" category. It's just amazing. (I'm not going to read any more archive stories for the next month. It's just too much information.)

I won't even get into the negative Boston Herald coverage. There motto should be: "If you can't say something nice, say it multiple times in at least three days worth of stories." I haven't looked yet for their coverage of this story. It should be nasty.

3. I do wonder
what part of "has not played a major role in pushing her candidacy" is so difficult for them to understand...

Couldn't find anything in the Herald, but did come across this tasty news item:
A Saudi Arabian princess living in Winchester was arrested yesterday on federal charges of enslaving two Indonesian women to care for her wheelchair-bound prince and unruly sons who allegedly spit on the servants.
The Shrub has such nice friends, don't you think?

4. Strange..
The Baltimore Sun never has a Mikulski vs. Sarbanes thing. Just because Kennedy and Kerry have all the fame?

6. You're lucky
Your newspapers have better things to talk about than made up and idiotic cat fights between two worthy Senators. I envy you.

7. It sounds like a little nothing to me
Just something for the Globe to fling around so they can pat themselves on the back and moan about how 'objective' they are. I think it's a tempest in a teapot.
