Fellow Massholes: Kerry event coming up in Lowell, MA
I am really depressed that I will be unable to make it to this event. But I am going to have about 20 people over to my house on the Sunday afternoon in question.

:-( x( :argh:

If you want to try to attend, here's the info:

Dear rox63,

I am writing to invite you to a very special evening I am hosting
with Senator John Kerry. On April 10th, Senator Kerry will travel to
Lowell to discuss his experience traveling the country during last
year's campaign and share his vision for our country's future. The
reception will take place on Sunday, April 10th from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
at the Doubletree Hotel in Lowell, MA.

For more information about this event, visit
http://www.martymeehan.com.

As the new Congress gets underway, Senator Kerry and I are hitting
the ground running with renewed vigor. Our country faces serious
challenges in the next four years: stopping the assault on Social
Security, developing a success strategy in Iraq, and keeping our
homeland secure. At the same time, we must not lose sight of our
long-term commitment to increasing the affordability and
accessibility of health care and expanding economic opportunity.

We have worked together in the past to do the right thing for
Massachusetts. I hope that I can count on your continued input and
support as we move forward together.

Please join Senator Kerry and me for this unique event. Tickets for
the reception are $100 and checks should be made out to: Marty Meehan
for Congress Committee. I am looking forward to seeing you on April
10th. Feel free to contact me anytime with questions or feedback at
my campaign (978) 251-3151.

For more information about this event, visit
http://www.martymeehan.com.

1. I want to go SOOOOO bad!
Sadly, I am working that night, and would need to fly from CA - which I would totally do if I were not obligated! I went to Meehan's site and got on his mailing list - can you recommend any other lists I can get on to be kept informed of Kerry's public appearances? If I had the time to arrange it, I would definitely travel to see him at something like this.

Thanks!

3. Hi Vektor
How are you?

I just usually peruse the Yahoo News site, then check out the Boston Globe site. It works about 40% of the time.

6. I want to go, I need to go, But.....
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 08:08 PM by TayTay
My husband has reminded me that he holds a very big trump card over my head and I may not be able to justify going. (Stop hissing at me, he probably has a point.)

See, I have this friend who has to move away from Massachusetts due to the fact that she has a circulatory problem and gets frostbite in mild weather (like when it barely cold at around 30 degrees.) Since I may not have a lot of time to hang around with her because she is moving to Phoenix, AZ soon, she and I have arranged this trip to Scotland this summer. And trips abroad (especially with the US dollar the way it is) are pricey. And $100 bucks is, well, a hundred bucks. (And I got one kid in college and another due to start in a year.) Oh, and both my husband and I are under threat of layoffs. (Ah, we've been under threat of layoffs so long now, I've kind of gotten used to it. But still.)

So, I have to make an adult choice (which sucks no matter what age you are.) Can I spend the money now or save it and go to Scotland and keep a promise I made to a friend 3 years ago? Wonder if Marty would let me in just cuz I'm so nice?

What would you do?

7. since you are already in Mass
i guess it would be ok if you kept the promise to the friend and went on the trip to Scotland since you will have many other chances to attend these type of events with JK (and probably free ones).

8. Indeed, I will see him in May at convention
I am not sure if he will be there both days, but I am pretty sure he will be in attendance. He wants the Dem Party to make some changes in how it runs things. That usually compels an attendance.

9. No, I won't
be going. I figure if I'm going to donate $100 it ought to be to my own rep Barney - or to Teddy.

Plus, since JK clearly has some IOU's to pay off, I believe there will be other such events coming up. We Massholes are so damned lucky.
