I'm going to be sick, look at this
In my state, MY STATE. I can't goddamned believe it. I just got this from the Oregon for Kerry Vet group. I need ideas for a kickass LTTE.

Harry Kloor, the producer of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
advertisements, is being honored by the Republican Party of Oregon as
the keynote speaker at their annual Lincoln Day dinner this Saturday.

In Michigan, Republicans invited John McCain to their Lincoln dinner
and in New York, Republicans honored California Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger. Surely Oregon Republicans could find a speaker who
represented positive values. Instead, on a day that commemorates
Honest Abe, they have decided to celebrate a man who crafted one of
the most despicable, dishonest smear campaigns in modern politics.

The overall impact of the Swift boat ads was blunted here in Oregon
thanks to your voices, but there can be no doubt that the dirty,
slanderous politics of these ads made a difference.

THERE IS NO PLACE FOR GROUPS LIKE THIS IN OREGON POLITICS. PEOPLE LIKE
HARRY KLOOR SHOULD BE SHUNNED, NOT EMBRACED AND CELEBRATED.

We are asking your help this week. First, send a letter to the editor
of your local paper saying that honoring a man for trashing a military
hero dishonored all of us who served.

Second, we will be crafting an open letter to the Oregon Republican
Party and Chairman Kevin Mannix, expressing our disapproval of their
choice. This will be done under the name of a new group we are forming
called Veterans and Military Families for Progress. Many of you are
Republicans or independents. Your voice is especially important.

Third, this Thursday, March 17th, at 11:45 am we will be gathering in
Salem to deliver the letter, and to stage a brief protest. The goal
of the event is to make our voices heard, and get our message out to
all Oregonians. Again, 11:45 am in Salem -- exact address/location to
follow tomorrow.

We hope that you will join us in this effort. If you want to sign on
to the letter we will be submitting or join us in Salem, let us know
by return email. We will send the letter out tomorrow.

2. Does that mean he's also involved in AARP ads as well
or just from the same agency? Or was he an outside guy.

Since, to me anyway, the two have been linked, I would ask if we should also take it as gospel truth that the AARP cares more about gay men kissing than the troops. Gee, must be true if they were right about John Kerry, huh?

Or maybe they were lying about both. Hey there's a thought.

All I could say for you LTTE is that a lie doesn't become the truth because the liar is also the winner. All that means is that we elected a liar. That's all.

If I see one more RW pundit or read one more LTTE about the "valliant" Smear Boat Vets or how good it was that they came out and told the "truth" about John Kerry, I'm going to plotz.
