Kerry on Morning Joe this morning
Edited on Fri Aug-05-11 10:05 AM by karynnj
Here is the link to the full 15 minutes. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/ns/msnbc_tv-morning_joe/#44032672 Just listened to it and he was really good.

The right leaning Real Clear politics has a video segment that they are distorting in their title - making his comment on the media giving equal time to ideas even if they are absurd. They make it about giving time to the tea party (so implicitly they are agreeing that the tea party says things that are absurd) - a case of "if the shoe fits"?

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/08/05/john_kerry_media_has_responsibility_to_not_give_equal_time_to_tea_party.html

(It also ignores that the tea party since its beginning has had MORE than equal time. ) His comments are similar enough to Gore's this week - the media is a problem.

1. He was fantastic here!!
He always is, but especially here! I love how he called the media out on giving absurd ideasa the same time and weight. Joe and co. didn't like that very much, but hey, truth hurts! And the fact that right leaning Real Clear Politics didn't like it only accentuates the point.

I love that he is making the rounds! :D

2. Excellent segment.
Only one reproach, and I have the same with every single Dems. Dont let these idiots who interview you insist that entitlements (and SS in particular) are part of the problem and must be reformed without saying what reform should be. Otherwise, it just give credence to the RW and their supporters in the media. It was the same thing with Durbin interviewed by Stewart (though there it was Durbin talking about entitlement needing to be reformed, but not stating how).

Except for that, excellent.

3. In either this one or maybe the later Andrea Mitchell interview
He does say that you don't have to cut benefits to reform the Big Three. I haven't heard too many other people besides JK say that and I always think it's awesome that he has the sensitivity to make that clear.

4. Wow! I missed this yesterday. He was EXCELLENT...
...in this interview. Clear. Concise. Determined. Truthful. I hope a lot of people heard this, including the media. Why the media give such wall-to-wall coverage of insignificant people and false issues is beyond me. It is downright dangerous for our country.

Thank you, Senator Kerry! You are a true leader. :patriot:

5. I think he did a wonderful job. And his comments about the complacency of the media
where the (Green)Tea Party are concerned where correct and sorely needed to be said.

7. The only reason Palin is still...
...around is the media. They can't seem to let her go.

The media latch on to what ever will boost their ratings and then cover it ad nauseum...even when nothing new is happening. Most of the topics they do cover are insignificant in people's lives. Important issues are totally ignored.
