something completely different: "quiz show cool"

Senator John Kerry stopped by WGBH on Saturday to tape a spot for “High School Quiz Show,’’ a program that features local public high school students showing off their smarts. The series includes video questions asked by local celebrities, and this year Kerry will be one of them. We can’t tell you what question the senator asked on camera — but we can tell you that while he was at WGBH, he took a call from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

2. This is cool - I like the BG title
Here's a local paper's account with slightly more detail - http://arlington.patch.com/articles/arlington-students-compete-in-wgbh-high-school-quiz-show .

The “surrealness” of the televised experience didn’t really hit the Spy Ponders until one famous guest stopped into the green room. Senator John Kerry was at the studio on Saturday to film a question for the show and offered the high-schoolers a pre-game pep talk.

“I want to congratulate you on your terrific efforts,” Kerry said. “Our society, our technology and our future will be shaped through basic education. is a great way to exercise what you’re already learning in school.”

Not siding with spin or anything, but thinking beyond the blogs. He will always be perceived as (the B word) even when he sounds heartfelt or having fun, but at least kids see/think otherwise.

Maybe the Senator could switch it up a little bit with the voice, IDK. Guess every pol will always have flaws/detractors. :hide:

This will be the last of all this from pol.

bloggers.

As for switching his voice up, it tells you how ridiculous politics has become in this country. I understand that some Obama supporters are confused and think he is the latest American Idol and not a politician that should be accountable, but no need to extend that to other politicians.

I have no problem with people who disagree with Kerry/Obama/... on issues. I loathe people who attack others on such trivial things than the fact they are not entertaining, ... If this is what these people (including Dems) expect from democracy, they got what they deserved with the Tea Party.

8. My point is: why should he or any of us worry about criticisms that are not
about substance? None of the criticisms you report here are about substance. For the most part, they are off base. Why should we care? (if it makss you feel better, there is a thread on GDP bashing Cornell West as not a credible person, because he does not agree with Obama. I am sure the same people were revering West a couple years ago. So, Kerry is not the only one getting a silly treatment, though in his case, it is fairly obvious that the administration considers Kerry as somebody of value, so, either these posters are not Obama supporters or they are idiots).

There are people who are making criticisms of Kerry about issues. There can be a discussion on these issues, but about his voice? Seriously?

What is also not clear for me is whether you share these criticisms or not? You generally come in a Kerry thread to post links or comments to some poster criticizing Kerry. What does this bring to the thread? Why not posting something positive in these threads? I just dont understand (which is fine in itself) what your goal is?

I did post something positive and substance-minded yesterday.

As for not doing it often, well, that's a long personal story and is not easy to post about it.

As for the Cornel West threads, I am not laughing at the bashing, though not surprised that he is getting it. All he (and Tavis Smiley also) has done is fuss at Obama. They don't give him an ounce of credit for anything he has accomplished so far in the present-day heated political climate.

He (West) claims to be for the poor, yet supported fake pols on this issue, and was silent while Bush screwed the poor over, yet complains that Obama isn't doing enough to help poor folks (yes, he could be doing better with LIHEAP, but he is only doing what he can with a dysfunctional Congress and a MSM that pounces on everything he does).

He and Smiley hold their "accountability" talk (aka Presidential bashfest) on a weekly radio show. They have very little to show for their efforts to the AA community. And this is the same person (West) that spoke at my Commencement and the student my paternal grandmother taught as a kid.

I respect his opinions, but he can be wrong sometimes. Depending on who you talk to, it's more about not having access to the Obama White House than anything else. (Tavis had access to the Clinton WH). Hopefully, there will come a time for the OWH, West, Smiley to work that out in the future, but Tavis has lost all credibility he had with the AA community since the 2008 primary wars. Rev. Al Sharpton said it best (paraphrasing): You can hold someone accountable without undermining him/her.

I have no problem with people criticizing the Senator or the President on the issues, I just post what I hear or heard. (No, I am not in a bubble and not talking about DU or political blogs). Can't talk about it here because me likes both Kerry and Obama and it may be taken the wrong way. You are right, no one should care or worry about it, but it's not right.

IDK what my goal is anymore. Still searching.

Sorry to ruin a nice thread and thanks for not chewing out. Peace.
