Hey, did you guys
See the Kerry quote? This knocked my socks off:

By Larisa Alexandrovna | RAW STORY News Editor

The government liaison of the Washington Times foundation, Gary Jarmin, raised money for his lobbying efforts by targeting senior citizens with “scare letters” on Social Security and Medicare, and has been operating some six organizations from what appears to be a drop box in Alexandria, Virginia, RAW STORY has learned.

The letters are sent from the American Federation of Senior Citizens, a group Jarmin founded with his father-in-law, Marvin Mondres. One such letter aimed at frightening seniors is signed by Mondres, the “Honorary Chairman” of AFSC, while other letters are signed by Jarmin.

snip

“The Kennedy-Kerry-Clinton axis… will raid the Social Security trust fund to pay for their liberal spending programs” evoking the “axis of evil” imagery used by President Bush in his 2002 State of the Union address.

snip

“Between scaring and misleading senior citizens and impugning the character of United States Senators by using coded language typically reserved for our World War II enemies or today’s hostile governments, yet another shadowy right wing front group has dusted off the old textbook of smear tactics,” Kerry spokesman David Wade said."

“They have no shame, no standards, and no interest in protecting Social Security,” Wade added. “If they want a fight, bring it on.”

1. It's JK unshackled.
THIS is what he's really like, minus consultants and image-makers. Makes me happy.

How are you??

8. This is how he was during the primary season
You are right--I think it's the real JK. In the book, The Candidate this is how he sounded--very tough indeed--mincing no words. I do think the managers got to him last summer and held him back some. Who knows if changing that would have changed the outcome, or not. It's a soft science, isn't it?

Go Kerry--tell it like it is.

9. I hope this isn't another bad topic
but I wish he had been the real Kerry when the SVBLiars launched their attack. They never, never, never should have held him back. Real emotion and outrage at being slimed would have been a good thing.

Of course, this now leads to my tried and true screed about over-relying on focus groups, wherein people lie about what affects them, and well, you guys have heard it before. Sigh!

I like the real JK. Mui Macho! (Humina, humina, humina.)

16. Bless her heart, I'm sure Cahill meant well, but she and Shrum mucked up
Thank God he's retired.

They should have let him be angry. He's quite wondrous when he's angry. That's why I like my little avatar.

3. Hey cutie! Nice work!
Who took the quote, that's wicked awesome. I'm glad that Sen. Kerry is saying what he means. Bring it on indeed.

Hey, saw some stuff in RollCall today that was interesting. It was about the Wampanoag, the casinos and the Senate. Did you see this? If not, PM and I'll find a means to convey same to you.

4. When Wade speaks, is he speaking for Kerry
or speaking in his own words, but from the Kerry position?

He is very young. (Or else I'm getting old.) How long has he been a Kerry spokeman?

6. What does being a spokesman mean though
Are these Kerry's words?

Hm, I suppose we could do a find for how long the boy has been there. I'll see what I can find out.

7. I know when Marvin got hired
Edited on Wed Mar-02-05 09:05 PM by TayTay
I like Marvin. (Cuz he's Chief of Stuff and I just love that.) But I think Wade has only been there since the '02 non-race. (But I could be really wrong.)

And how does a spokeman know what to say? Do they go to Spokeman School? They probably all just meet in the morning and have discussions over coffee and sweet rolls.

10. I'm just wondering how much of that statement is Wade and how much Kerry
Here's what little bio info I could find on Wade.

Deputy Communications Director David Wade
Communications Director in Kerry's Senate office. Served as national president of College Democrats of America (and addressed the 1996 Democratic National Convention in Chicago). Graduate of Brown University ('97).

But do you know what I mean? We're like, "Oh wow, look what John just said," when maybe we should be saying, "Oh wow, look what just David Wade said" instead. God love John, but that's what bugged me just now. The way I'm reading it, it's David, not John.

PMS is a bitch, btw. Sorry if I'm picking nits.

11. Spokesman usually means just that
I volunteered for my congressman for years (Pete Kostmyer - obviously long ago in a galaxy far, far away ;-) ) and spokespeople do not speak for themselves. They especially don't convey a message or even a tone w/out ensuring that it mirrors that of their boss. Otherwise they don't stay in the spokesperson game very long.

I'd say this is ALL from the Senator - give 'em hell Kerry!:yourock:
