5. This is really, really cool.

I wish I could speak legal, though. Looking at the docs, and they might as well be written in Chinese.

Edited to add, I can read the docs, but I don't know what their larger meaning is. What is the endgame?

7. Check out the summary chart
This lays out the irregularities in the recount, plain language, simple chart. There are plenty here and we should probably print them so when people ask, we can just hand it to them. Looks like this is starting to get really focused. Wohoo!

9. Wouldn't that be nice!
But it ain't gonna happen. The Rethugs would never, ever agree to hearings on their Pres. This has to happen in the courts and it's a big uphill battle because Ohio is a Republican state. (That's what the lefty freepers never understood, there are opponents arrayed against any move made on the election fraud front. Big, deep-pocketed and media protected opponents. It's just not that easy.)

The best we can hope for is that (and this is a real stretch) the MSM picks up on the story and does an indepth investigation as to what happened and publicizes it. (Insert scoffing remark here.)

11. Me Too!
That's why I'm a Dem. I still have hope and justice matters to me!

Sigh! I guess I'll always have hope. It's what keeps me going.

12. I hope I don't get ridden out of town on a rail for this...
I guess I'm really not Liberally Pure, but... I don't think I'd want Bush and Cheney to be removed from office via impeachment.

If they were, then {2008 nominee} would end up running against someone that the Repugs could bill as "clean" for not being involved in {impeachment scandal}.

(OK, I won't be coy; we're all thinking it: Kerry'd be running against someone who had nothing to do with Grand Theft 2004.)

I'd dearly love for all of this stuff to come out, and for Bush to be written up in history books as the only president who managed to swindle two terms. But I also would like for him to remain in office as assorted people around him go down. (Hoping for Rove.) After all he's done -- and I don't mean theft; I mean in screwing up the world -- he deserves nothing less.

There's more. There are very deep connections between the GOP and the voting machine industry. I've bashed Bev Harris here, but her research into these connections is sound and I'm thinking that this might be a "domino effect" scenario, where once this one ugly deed is exposed, the connections will be made public in a big way and a large part of the GOP is tainted. The central players -- the Bush administration -- would need to remain in office, being investigated to the hilt and entangled in all sorts of legal battles, for this to take place.

Just thinking strategically this afternoon.

13. That is the best Plan B we can hope for
(Plan A was to have a Kerry/Edwards administration!)

In 2008, wouldn't any GOP candidate be relatively "clean" anyway? I don't know who they are thinking of, but his name won't be Bush or Cheney. Of course, if the Dems can manage to expose the whole administration and it's awful neocon puppetmasters, it will taint the party for some time to come.
Meanwhile Dean will be building up the Democratic party as the party of the people that it was in the beginning. I suppose waiting until the next term would give them ample time to do it, but meanwhile let's hope the repubs get damaged enough to lose some seats in 2006.

But on an emotional level, I sure would love a Bush resignation! Just like his Nixon role model. That would do a lot of damage in itself. Even if Cheney had to finish out the term, I'd take it. He's a slimey character if there ever was one--and he has less charisma and energy than *.

14. There's a lot to be said for this
There are massive threats to the economy and I believe we are due for a very painful economic correction within the next 12 months. (If you have any variable rate loans out there, get them into fixed rates now!) The rest of the world is starting to reconsider lending us any more money. When we finally find that the foreign money spigots have been shut off, well game, set, match. We have crappy savings rates and cannot sustain our current growth anymore. Can you say massive deep recession?

Whoever the next Pres is is going to have a very tough time. (But every tough time is an opportunity. Hey, look what happened with FDR.) The Rethugs have promised the nation that moral living and their sleight of hand tax cuts for the rich policies are going to result in prosperity for everyone. It ain't so. The Dems will have a great opportunity to actually come in and actually help the people, but oh the pain that we are going to go through first is really scary.

If in 2008 we see the election of a Dem Pres (and again, I think we will, if only because of * fatigue) that Pres is going to have a tough time of it. We will need a real political correction and change in direction away from all the brain-dead policies we have had as a nation since Reagan.
