North Carolina is blue!
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 01:31 AM by Island Blue
North Carolina now has a Democratic Governor (and a female one to boot), a Democratic Junior Senator, and apparently has added to President Elect Obama's Electoral total. http://projects.newsobserver.com/under_the_dome/obama_will_win_n_c I'm crying like a baby right now.

Edited to say: It's now official. While we may not be the same shade of blue as Massachusetts, we are indeed a BLUE state!

Everyone please forgive me for being so giddy about this tonight (actually this morning). It just really means a lot to me that this has happened.

1. a year ago i would have thought we had a better chance in Arkansas than NC
even if Obama had come close and not actually won it would have been a great thing. but this is one of the best wins of the night.

2. Have they actually declared it?
I'm staying up waiting to see the results in Missouri, Indiana, and North Carolina.

3. It's so amazing, this feeling of being proud to be an American again.
For eight long years we felt ashamed in front of the world. My daughter has a lot of international friends and felt this way every day. But no more! Now we can hold our heads up high again.

And the whole country seems to be partying!

4. wonderful!!
(even though it spoils the accuracy of my prediction of 349 electoral votes for Obama. An hour ago, I was 100% right!! But what a wonderful reason to be proved wrong. )

5. Congrats, IB! Although for whatever reason the AP has still not called it.
Another interesting state: Georgia. Something weird is going on here. I don't know anything; all I know is that it was called awfully early, and now we learn that the unprecedented early voting was NOT flippin' counted. One thing that is becoming apparent is that the Senate race will be a runoff. Saxby Chambliss has to get over 50% in order to win, and with those early voting numbers from Democratic strongholds in Atlanta not counted yet, this does not appear likely.

Anyway, not only has NC not been called by the AP, neither has Georgia. It is obvious that I live in a very crooked, corrupt, and inept state run by imbeciles. I always viewed it as a Lean McCain state; but the blowout figures last night were ridiculous, and now we learn, highly misleading. The nets should NOT have called that state.

8. Woohoo!
:woohoo: Nobody on DU can talk smack about us for at least another four years! :woohoo:

It feels good although I know that at least here in NC we need to continue to work hard - we are more a deep shade of purple than true blue. We'll get there though - eventually!
