I got a 2004 Kerry Gallery Treasures Bear from my youngest daughter!
Edited on Sun Jul-13-08 06:32 PM by karynnj
Last Wednesday, my daughter and I went to a Friendly's in Morris Plains, a small very Republican town after she had a blood test done. I noticed her looking at the machine where you operate a "claw" to win a stuffed animal, but thought nothing of it. After eating, I walked over to mail a package at the post office and she stayed at the restaurant.

When I came back, she pulled the bear out from behind her back. She had noticed this John Kerry bear amidst the usual bears when we came in and had checked to see that it really was what she thought when I left and won it! Good for 2 reasons, It was a very cool surprise. She said there were no other political bears.

4. I rescued a John Kerry plush from a claw machine in Wal Mart
Edited on Mon Jul-14-08 06:30 PM by WildEyedLiberal
Yes, there were John Kerry plushes, kitsch items made during 2004 - they made both Bush and Kerry and sold them in gas stations and other places like that. I of course bought one back in 04 and have displayed him proudly on my shelf ever since. But then several years later - I think last year - I was in Wal Mart and happened to be walking past the claw machine when I noticed a very familiar face gazing up at me. He was right on top, almost begging for me to win him. Of course I had to, god only knows what some redneck freeper would do to him if they happened to win him. It took me two tries, but I managed to grab him on the second go round and he stayed in the claw. So now I have two John Kerry plushes :D

Ed: I'd post a pic of the plush but both it and any pix I might have of it are back home in the USA, so alas.

5. I was curious so I Googled "John Kerry plush doll"
and found this blast from the past http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=273x21655#21664 which includes a photo of you and your JK, WEL. (Lucky thumb. ;)) I guess this was before you acquired JK II.

6. Oh, my GOD. I love 2005 DU JK forum. Reading that made me
nostalgic again for those days. So dark, yet so silly and fun!

9. That is the way to do it
I have a Kerry collectible that I got off eBay. Within a couple of weeks of signing up for PayPal, my bank account had been broken into. Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not, but it's why I'm always reluctant to make online purchases anymore. I had to replace my computer motherboard with a part from eBay and I'm half waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Congrats on your acquisition. :D
