Kerry Election Holiday 8/2001

I posted this in the election forum, wanted to post it here too. The Federal Election Holiday is Kerry's. I don't know how he keeps letting other people take credit for his stuff.

1. great find

i remember he mentioned this long time ago before the primaries so it shouldn't be that surprising. but i do want him to start taking credit for what he does and has done.

i know being jr senator , especially under someone as popular and well known as Ted Kennedy he mostly got things he wanted passed by allowing others to take credit, but now he has a bigger role and national name recognition .

2. And then people have the gall to say he does everything for political gain

If he did that for real, he'd be taking credit for alot more. Not to mention that when he DOES take credit for something, like noting that Bush and Co. are using some of his ideas, he get derided for it. Well, it's true.

3. this is why i think these people don't really care

they just look for reasons to attack him no matter what. if he doesn't do something they attack him. if he does then they just blow it off as him doing it for selfish reasons.

4. They're projecting.

If they did any of the things he's done, it would be for purely selfish reasons for them, i.e., self-promotion. It must be difficult for them to believe that anyone could be different.

5. Federal Election Holiday is NOT Kerry's idea!

It's an idea that's been around for years. Of course, Republican Congress will do everything to prevent it. It's common knowledge that a lot of people with long hours on the job vote Democrat. Hope to God it does pass, if not now, soon in the future.

6. Somebody else introduced it?

I haven't found anybody else introducing this legislation. Kerry did. Obviously he didn't create the idea out of thin air, Australia has election holidays, and probably other countries too. The point is the media is calling it Hillary's election holiday legislation when Kerry is probably the one who insisted it be put in the bill because he's the one who introduced it. She didn't put it in her election bill a couple years ago.

7. No one else, to my knowledge, introduced it as legislation.

It's just that it is something that I've heard discussed on and off with various liberal friends over the years.
