Please end this nightmare!
Had this nightmare a couple months ago:

I am on a the Drift-in Beach near Port Clyde, Maine (place of my New England Summer Vacations). Beautiful rocky shoreline. Yes, pure heaven. Yet, it's so overcast and gray. I see a man in a brown business suit face down in the sand near the surf. I can't make out his face. Yet I can hear his unmistakeable Boston accent. Teddy Kennedy! A man in a trenchcoat leans over him with a gun ready to shoot. I feel helpless. Sickened. Then the dream ends.

To me the meaning is clear. Teddy K to me represents the Dem party brought to near death by Rethug mentality and supremacy in all three branches of government. I feel so helpless to see the men and women I so admire in Congress be kicked arounded and treated like unamerican-stewballs.

I blieve that the nightmare will end, but it will take awhile. On that note I sign off, need to go to bed. Hope Teddy will be better...

1. That's awful.
I had some terrible nightmares towards the end of the campaign, usually involving someone trying to harm Kerry. They've gone away for now. But if I spend too much time reading the right-wing spew about him they may return. Those people are just evil.

2. I didn't have those at all.
I had dreams that Kerry was talking to me about going on a trip to NH to canvas. I had to drive which scared me cuz I hate driving and I can never find anything in Cow Hampshire. Then we would go out to dinner with about 12 other people. The dream would end with my being dropped off at my house, curiously enough, with Kerry. (And my husband was there. What the hell was up with that?)

I have the most boring dreams. No anxiety, just more of my own New England soul exhorting me to work harder, even in my sleep. I must remember to feed my inner Puritan a better brand of ice cream before bedtime. I might get better dreams.

3. Well, if you REALLY want
to get into dream-talk I had some truly freakish ones. Usually following a day of work down at the Boston Kerry headquarters.

I had one I remember only vaguely now - but it involved a hippieish commune in a huge rambling house somewhere. I was living there, as was Kerry. A lot of my Kerry dreams take me back to some ill-defined early-70's-of-the-mind. I won't go into details (that's what the other place is for!)

4. I love this! Dreams can be so much fun!
I remember waking up one morning during last summer with the distinct impression that John Kerry was in my room standing next to where I was sleeping. I was in that odd not-awake, not-asleep phase and that was totally unnerving. That was when I decided to skip doing any heavy campaign thinking that day, skip any heavy books and go to the movies or play with the dog or talk with my kids or garden. I was obviously over-involved. This usually did the trick. No more anxiety dreams about the future of the world being on my shoulders. (Which is completely silly anyway. I am only responsible for what I can actually do. I am never responsible for the whole world.)

5. During the campaign I had this dream...
We were all at a dance. Kerry was there wearing a blue bow-tie and a lot of stately women and men were there too. I tried to get Kerry's attention but he couldn't see me.
Then skip to my childhood home in Parkton, MD. I'm in my brother's room making his bed. I am thinking: I got to make it neat for Mr. Kerry, he's staying overnight. (But I wake from the dream before he arrives.)

When I first told this dream to my parents, we were all excited. My mom made a lot of it. "When we were last in that house," she said, "A Democrat was in the White House. We also lived in a white house. So, he was coming to live in a white house."

Now I read back that I was expecting him to be president, but he didn't make it.

6. I think you responded to my post in some other thread...
I'm having relatively pleasant and peaceful political dreams now, strangely enough. That one I described, which you replied to, had the atmosphere of reality, not of a dream at all. There were no "dreamish" elements in it such as scenes from the past, or younger versions of people I know, or unknown places. It was all very familiar in setting and time except for the one aspect of seeing JK on TV being addressed as "Mr. President." I would like to have something like it again.

One time during the summer, one time in the post-election drama, and once post-Coronation I had dreams of Kerry being harmed. I think that the summer dream was about the Swifties, about veterans stabbing another veteran in the back... the post-election dream was about the despicable GOP-owned system harming him by obscuring the truth... and that third dream was probably about the flak he's taking from the Right and from the "lefty freepers."

7. Scary, Scary, Kerry Dreams.
Sorry about that. I only hope the rumors weren't true about people after his life.
