Kerry's talk on climate change
Pamela has a good piece on the environment, along with some snips from Kerry's talk today and link, which I also posted below.

Climate Change Policy: What's Next?

One of the greatest losses in the past election cycle was the opportunity to discuss the real issues, not the issues that the Bush campaign forced down the throats of America’s with their propaganda driven news media control, but the real issues, like the environment.

Sadly, during the three presidential debates there was only one question on the environment. Environmentalists had no doubt, who the clear choice was during the election. The difference between John Kerry’s record on the environment and George W. Bush’s record are like night and day.

Among the travesties in Bush’s newly released budget are cuts to the EPA to the tune of $450 million. The L.A. Times reported today that “Bush Plan Could Drain Effort to Clean Up Waters.”

If approved by Congress, 2006 funding for the popular program to finance clean water improvements with low-interest loans will be cut nearly in half, from $1.35 billion in 2004 to $730 million.

1. this is one of the issues Kerry is best on
i hate that it wasn't made into a bigger issue as it should have.

especially since it concerns national security and the economy also.

3. I just read it
Well, I read JK's half of it. Brilliant speech by a brilliant man. He knows his stuff. He spoke well--the campaign has definitely improved his ability to speak plainly and connect. He's passionate about this--I can tell just by reading the words. He answered some questions afterward, and did so with ease and thoroughness.

He's still the activist: he wants to educate people so that they call for change from the grassroots level. He used the 60s as an example: people marched for the environment then, so that it became something candidates needed to address in their campaigns.

He spoke at length about how hard it is to get your issues out through the media, the way it is structured now. And how the whole campaign was always about Iraq and Terror. He says he always spoke about the environment every day in some way, but that it didn't get through, except to those at his rallies.

He's got the answers about what to do for the environment; now if people will just listen.

4. Great Speech
He really seems to have moved into an activist role. I feel so cheated that he is not President. His speech covers such a broad range of complicated issues while remaining interesting. I am so tired of reading that he can't communicate.
