And I miss JK.Sigh. I have been a wreck since the election. My district all became lefty freepers and things turned really nasty. My husband lost but came closer than any Dem ever has in this district .He got almost 45% of the vote and will run again.

I no longer am an LD chair but moved on to the Executive Committee of my State Party to help keep us in place to win.Anyway its nice to be back! :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

1. Welcome back!
Sorry to hear about your husband and I hope he does run (and kick butt) next time. What office was he running for?

BTW, it's a good time to be back. Today was a dream day for Kerrycrats. Lots of Kerry ass kicking on the radio.

2. He ran for AZ State Senate .His opponent campaigned as the only "Christian Candidate"
and had the religious right vote in her Reug area. She belongs to a super church that turned out for her! I could tell stories about her lack of "Christian values " but.....BTW, my husband being an Anglican didn't "count" .GRR. as Christian. Oddly, even our conservative newspaper, the Arizona Republic endorsed my husband over her.So it was only her "church" that won it for her.But 2008 is around the corner. But we have to get back to work and get some income now as the election drained us!

3. That must have been tough. He came so close especially considering what he was up against.
It must have been very stressful as well as expensive.

Let me guess, she had all kinds of financing and outspend your husband ten to one?

4. Actually , he ran clean, as he qualified for Clean Elections money.
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 07:59 PM by saracat
She refused to run on public money as she says it is an affront to free speech.Clean Elections candidates can only take seed money up to a total of $3000 and any individual contributions cannot total more than $120. They then gets hundreds of $5 contributions from registered voters in their Districts and turn those in for public funding which isn't that grandiose. And a the funds can't be used provide a wage for the candidate and campaigning is a full time job so in the end it still costs you! She ran traditionally but only spent money in the primary. She refused to even debate my husband or appear at any candidate events he attended, even those with major Repugs! It was very weird. She now wants to raid the rainy day fund of Arizona to eliminate traffic congestion where she lives as she compares it as equal to 9-11 as illegal aliens might be blocking access to the discount outlets in her area, as illegal aliens are terrorist.I did not make this up,this is true. She also sponsored a bill, which the Governor vetoed last year, to force doctors to inform potential abortion patients that they were inflicting horrendous "pain" on the fetus. It was called the "Fetal Pain Bill" and she actually was on National TV with it.

5. That's admirable and really amazing that your husband did so well running clean.
She sounds like a fetid pain in the ass. It's horrible that voters would elect someone this sanctimonious about other peoples' lives. It reminds me of this song. Maybe some of this applies to her (you said she isn't much of a Christian) and probably those holier-than-thou folks who voted for her.

Sunday Morning Christian

Mr Jones this car you sold me isn't all that I desired
You swore it was young and healthy now I find it's old and tired

But a deal's a deal you tell me and there's nothing to be done
Mr Jones I'd like you better if you robbed me with a gun

You're a Sunday morning Christian sir singing louder than the rest
Beg forgiveness at the altar with your chin down on your chest

But tomorrow will be Monday you'll revert back to your ways
Gougin' kickin' cheatin' shovin' with no thoughts of God or lovin'

Don't let me stand in your way surely God will forgive you next Sunday

Mrs Smith your fine attendance shows the Christian life you live
But I know you little secret you expect God to forgive

You'll kiss your husband Monday morning see him safely on his way
Then get ready for your lover it's a long time till Sunday

You're a Sunday morning Christian ma'm...

6. You have NO idea how appropriate that is.And she is apparently involved with a fellow legislator
(Arch RW who directs her vote) .It is so obvious the paper of record even hinted at it.Of course both are married and he is a Mormon with 7 children. It is scary how dead on you are.

7. Whew. Pretty awful family values, IMHO.
It's sad that being Christian is coming to be associated with left-wing hippocrates. It boggles the mind.

9. as a former AZ resident,
I was wondering: what district was he running in? I used to live in such a Republican area that the Dems didn't even bother to mount an opponent for state legislative races, and Congressional races had token Dem opponents, at best. Share your frustration on narrow, warped definition of "Christian".

8. Nice to see you back. Sorry to hear that your husband lost
It's impressive that he will run again. I live in a county that sounds like yours - and it amazed me how much effort and passion really good people put into running extremely uphill races.
