2. That Times article really blows. He sounds like certain people
on this board; can't let it go, and seems to be sticking the knife in and twisting.

8. Just did - great find
It's funny, but I think the NYT writer (whose photo is not there and who is very likely no where near Kerry in looks) really showed his colors starting with this comment. Pictures Of Senator Kerry abound - and he is at minimum impressive. Not to mention, he will likely get some coverage with his book. Speaking about those issues with Teresa, the engaged animated Kerry - now less constrained to watch every word will be seen. For a couple in their 60s, the Kerrys are incredibly good looking, very intellectually curious, intelligent and optimitic.

I had never heard the Teresa comment - which was cute.

7. Hey -- I used to read this guy ages ago. He's in love with this
female rock group (can't remember the name); he's a freelance writer who sometimes gets his stuff printed in the New Yorker Talk of the Town. Anyway, great post. Yeah, it looks like even snarky people think that article was WAY out of bounds and cruel.

15. That's funny,
However,Simpson doesn't have Teresa's personality, brilliance, and real beauty, inside and out. (Not to mention, as Tay Tay pointed out in the Small Business thread, Kerry has a very low threshold for tolerating morons.

I think that's going to go to a few reporters who insisted they were just writing what they observed. Riiight. A few consultants could stand to take a look at it too.

23. Nope -- I'm done with him. "Swoonbat" is a derogatory term
I've had the displeasure of reading Michelle Malkin in the past, and she always refers to liberal bloggers as "moonbats", so Radash is couching us in Right Wing terms. I think he must have a varied audience. Pretty ridiculous coming from someone who posts naked pics of women.

I'm not a big fan of "satirists" , especially when their satire is at the expense of others.

21. I agree with you and Teresa

I do notice that it is mostly MEN who are saying he's ugly and women who are stating the obvious. He's a nice looking guy. My quess - he's got to be happy that in his 50s the beautiful woman he married said he was a hunk. The guy is 63 years old and could pass for a least a decade younger and always looks perfectly groomed.

I never really sat down and compared politicians' looks - I guess that's a personal failure. I read their books on what they wanted to do. But of all the choices I've had in general elections(including McGovern, Nixon, Carter, Ford, Reagan, Mondale, Dukakis, Bush, Bush, Gore, Clinton, Dole) Kerry wins hands down. If I add the primaries, Gary Hart is the only one competitive. (Bob Kerrey is better looking in person than in pictures.)

But looks are subjective - I remember a strange conversation with 2 teens (related to me) who actually though Kurt Cobain was better looking than JFK jr, who had been picked by (I think) people magazine as the handsomest guy of year.

22. I think that some guys resent his looks, hair and his money.
All of that and he is smart, honest and dedicated also. I bet if he got fat, lost his hair and dressed like a slob, and was sneaky and corrupt they would be besides themselves talking about what a maverick he is.

31. it's hard to compete with an Alpha male.
;) They probably are envious. He's got what you said, plus his status as a long-time Senator and ex-presidential candidate--he's got connections and he's got clout. And he's got seeminly boundless energy to get things done. More than a lot of younger men.

26. I now understand COMPLETELY
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 01:40 PM by karynnj
While googling to find a photo of the author of the NYT garbage - which appears not to exist, I found the key to why this man is so blind. Even though Amazon.com has a listing for his book - where you can see the front and back cover of his book, there is no photo. John Kerry is pictured on the cover of "New War", but this guy is not on his book.

But - that's not the interesting thing - I found what male figure does impress him. I now understand because everyone here will agree that Senator Kerry does not share much of anything with the object of this guy's admiration. From a blog commenting on another featured article.

http://www.oliverwillis.com/2006/10/kneepads_for_mr.html

History and the rest most of the world will treat Senator Kerry with far more love and respect.

These writers should have to identify their political affiliations so that people can identify these pieces as the propaganda they are.

Here's a link to that NYT article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/17/washington/17cheney.html?ex=1318737600&en=e21042f0437172a6&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss

It's like an article where black is white, white is black, up is down, and down is up.

Dick Cheney is a "rock star"?

Obviously, this Leibovich guy is not just a snarkster; he is CLEARLY right wing, and should be fired (or have his articles labeled "op-ed").

Edited to add: damn, I wish I knew this yesterday, or I would have included this in my diary. I mean -- this is a smoking gun.

32. Strange world
where the NYT, a paper I was so happy to get delivered when as a 22 yera old I moved to NY, can hire a man who wrote both of these articles. Also, how did Mr Cheney's visits do in getting out the vote???

Not to mention, there are no snarling distorted photos of Senator Kerry. Even if all his pictures did show a sad man, which they don't - the photo at the SOTU, where he looked happy and rested had to be after making the decision - it is still the face of a decent honest man - 2 things not even his friends would call Cheney.
