McAuliffe's Kerry bashing book being promoted in an e-mail by the DNC.
I don't know about you, but this makes be boiling mad. A book by the Chair of "Elect Hillary" allowed to use the DNC e-mail list to promote the Clinton's and himself, and denounce Senator Kerry. All free of charge.
This is the kind of dirty bullsh*t that they can not get away with. I canceled my subscription and told them I will no longer donate to the DNC and will only give to Kerry.

1. I also unsubscribed
and told them the only reason I was on their list in the first place was because of John Kerry, because before John Kerry I had been a very disappointed democrat and he was the one that brought me back into the party.

2. I can not describe how angry I am that McAulliffe would be slimy enough to do this.
This is the kind of politics that the Clinton's will bring back in vogue if they are permitted back in the White House. What nerve. I know the Clinton's didn't do this directly, but he is a reflection of them. To use our donated dollars to promote his book through the DNC and at the same time bash Kerry and promote the Clinton's is just low and dirty. There has got to be something that can be done about it. I am witholding any more money as long as this remains on the site and an apology isn't given.
McAuliffe isn't liked, do you think a post at Kos, highlighting this would draw attention to it and get the DNC to denounce these kinds of practices?

22. Remember it was the Clintons
whe enabled Bush to run on bringing dignity back to the White House.

I suspect they are not using money, but that McAuliffe is sharing the royalties on those copies.

3. This should be posted in DU.
The DNC shouldn't be promoting any candidate before the primary and the e-mail promoting McAuliffe's book is pretty much an endorcement of Hillary Clinton.

If enough people unsubscribe and promise to cut off donations they might get the message that their bias in not appreciated.

4. I worry that cutting off funds to the DNC will reflect badly on Dean.
I just can't understand how Dean ok'd this. Or, perhaps, it was done without his knowledge. I am sure McAuliffe has a friend or two left at the DNC. If this is the case, this friend needs to be fired.

5. Most of the DNC e-mails I've gotten were addressed from Howard Dean. Not this one.
In fact there was one entitled "State of the Union" from Dean the same day the "McAuliffe one went out.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was done without Dean's knowledge. The staffer who sent it obviously didn't want to send it under Howard Dean's name for one reason or another.

6. That's what astonished me too -- there is no way Dean approved this
I hope that the person or persons responsible are dealt with appropriately.

8. Just sent this email to the DNC
on their website: http://dnc.org/page/s/contact

I want to know if Howard Dean knew about and approved the email that was sent out last night to promote Terry McAuliffe's book.

That email was an appalling misuse of the DNC mailing list, and caused me to have my name removed from the DNC email list.

I'm willing to have it reinstated if Howard Dean assures us it was sent without his approval. I greatly appreciatethe work he is doing as chairman, and would not want to see that undercut by the political maneuverings of others.

9. Good, I think I am going to send one too.
If Dean, sends something out or assures me that McAwful won't be able to abuse the e-mail list every again, I will be happy with that.

11. Also e-mailed.
I made sure they understood that I wasn't a RW malcontent, just someone who wanted the list used "to promote the party rather than tear down good and loyal members."

I hope they get a lot of letters, and I hope that the Hillary flack is identified.

Call. You get a receptionist who will then transfer you to the internet department. The lady who picks up the phone at the internet department Tracy Russo. The manager is Josh MaKonahay (spelling). Tracy is the person who hung up on me. So call Josh and complain.

that they're feeling the pressure - but atrocious public relations.

Anyone know if there's a way to send a message directly to Dean's office?

17. No one working with the public should be able to get away with hanging up on someone.
That reflects badly on the DNC and Dean. This woman needs to go- pronto. We help pay her salary she should not be cutting us off. Wow!

25. When she hung up on me...
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 06:35 PM by ray of light
I was tellling her that I donate, I precinct chair, and am active in my region and that I would make sure my fellow democrats would not donate. That's when she hung up. I was stern, but polite. I hope this wasn't referring to my behavior in calling them. Because I did not yell. I was polite--even if long winded. I let her hear my anger that a strong Democratic leader and the former Presidential candidate would be smeared by someone who failed to take care of election reform after he promised to do so in 2000.

19. I got one of these emails also and did not care for it.
I'm drafting a letter back to them, suggesting they behave like an organization representing the entire party and not just the celebrity interests of the McAuliffe crowd.

20. Sounds like a good letter. They really do need to hear from us.
This is our donations going for free book PR for McAuliffe, an attack on Kerry and a plug for the Clinton's. I also think it takes advantage of Dean and could ultimately hurt donations. I almost stopped my monthly donations because of this. Thanks for writing them.

23. I am hoping this sends a message. I have decided to still donate,
because they can us this against Dean, saying he can't raise money, and I do not think Dean was aware of this. I just hope he will make changes and not allow things like this to happen again.
We can always subscribe again.

26. Postscripe- I hope! McAuliffe has his own site now.
I received yet another e-mail tonight promoting this awful book. However, this time the e-mail was from McAuliffe himself and from a web sit titled, "What a Party". So, it appears they got the message. He still must have some DNC e-mails though. The one sent to my address was for a family member I share my address with.

28. if they received an email without specific permission to
give out your name and email address then they're still crossing the line. I think people should let them know their name/address is not to be given away to other organizations or self-promoters without their explicit permission.

29. Good point. He had to have gotten it from the DNC list.
Which now make me wonder if he would try to cross the line and us the e-mail list to ourwardly promote Senator Clinton.
