OT: Why are my parents such die-hard republicans???
I don't get it! I jokingly told my mom on the phone a couple minutes ago to vote for Jim Esch (our NE congressional candidate.) First, she said, "Well, I don't think we can--not the right district." I told her he was running against Lee Terry, and then she said, "Well, we're not voting for Jim Esch, then." I told her a few things about him that should have softened her viewpoint on him, and she said, "Yes, I know all about him. We're not voting for him."

Oh sure, she knows ALL about him--just had NO idea what office he was running for! What a bunch of BS! All they're doing is voting straight ticket R or whoever Focus on the Family's voting guide tells them to vote for (same thing, really).

UGH! They are extremely intelligent people. Why do they have to be so ridiculously loyal to a party that doesn't even represent what they really believe! They are SOOOOO brainwashed!

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Thanks--I needed to vent.

1. I'm sorry to hear that -- but sounds like they don't want to learn
the truth that their "football team" the Republicans are a bunch of immoral, corrupt, inept thugs (sorry, I'm REALLY pissed about the voter intimidation BS happening here in Virginia, and the fact that our signs in my precinct were stolen!). In fact, tell her my little story -- about a stay at home Mom's neighborhood precinct getting their signs stolen by thieving Republicans. How is that remotely Christian? I would NEVER steal Republican signs.

Just think that you will be able to teach your children to have an open mind. That's the best you can do.

2. Think of it this way
That is why Republicans win way more than they have a right to. They stick together.

3. I have people at my blog saying I 'beat up' on Republicans and say,
"you never say anything nice about them."

Speaking of banging head against wall...

4. They vote their values
Self reliance. Nuclear family. Strong defense. Law and order. Right? I don't have a problem with Repubicans who do that. I just have a problem when they think that people who think there's different solutions don't have the same core values they do. Most Republicans aren't really like that though. It only gets really crazy partisan in presidential election years. Seems to me. At least she'll listen to you, that's a good thing.

I'd hate to think what would happen if one of my kids turned into a freeper Republican. :scared:

5. I have relatives like that in South Carolina.
Some of them actually have some pretty liberal values (they believe in doing good works, they believe in helping those less fortunate, they think the environment should be protected, they hate the current No Child Left Behind policies, etc.), but they vote how ever the church tells them to vote. (Meaning they always vote R.)

It's crazy, but I love them anyway. I'm just glad I don't live there any more.
