Nov 1: John Kerry with Bob Casey in Philly
Happy happy joy joy!!

Dear MH,

Eighteen months ago, I decided to run for the U.S. Senate against Rick Santorum because I believed that this country was headed on the wrong path and that the notion of staying the course was out of touch with the priorities of Pennsylvanians.

Today, Rick Santorum is reading the same polls we are. He knows that he is on the verge of losing this election, and his only option is to run a fear and smear campaign against me on the TV and try to peel off enough votes to squeeze out a victory.

Although we have not been able to match Santorum dollar for dollar on television - we have, because of the generosity of people like you, been able to get our message out. And for that, I am forever grateful.

On November 1st, we will have one of the final events of the campaign in Philadelphia. I am asking you to join me at a final campaign gala with my friend, Senator John Kerry. Tickets are $250, $100, and $50. I hope that you will join us on the November 1st, and consider making a contribution.

Below is a sample evite that I hope you will send to everyone on your email list who could possibly join us, or contribute, as well. It would mean a lot to me if you could forward it to your friends and encourage them to join us on November 1st.

We have come so far in the past 18 months. I appreciate everything you have done - and all that you will do in these final three weeks.

Sincerely,

Bob Casey

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends,
There has been so much written about the Casey - Santorum race (and so much on TV); it is hard to find anyone who does not have an opinion and has not decided how to vote. I imagine that most of my friends are joining me in supporting Bob Casey, and I doubt that I will be able to persuade any of those who are supporting Santorum.
The pundits are all saying that this is now Bob Casey's to lose - and they are right. Bob has a lead in the polls, and is running hard. It would be a big mistake, however, to assume that this race is over - because it is far from over.
First, there are somewhere between 10 percent - 20 percent of the voters who have not really made up their mind yet - and they will do so depending in large part on what they see in TV over the next few weeks. Rick Santorum has a history of beating long odds - and there is time for his most vicious attack to catapult him to victory.
And second, we have to make sure that we get the Casey voters out to vote. When a candidate has a lead, there is always the danger that his supporters take victory for granted - we cannot take anything for granted when the stakes are so high!
The final event of the campaign in the Delaware Valley will on be on November 1st at 5:30 PM at Public House. I told Bob that I would try to get as many of my friends to attend with me as possible, and hope that you will join me. Senator John Kerry will be the guest speaker and there will be a special reception just prior to the fund raiser for $1000. We are hoping people will contribute $250, $100, or $50 to attend.
If you can join me, please let me know and I will make sure there is a ticket at the door for you. Even better, you can reserve your ticket by going to bobcasey.com.
Pennsylvania has not elected a Democrat to a full six year Senate term since 1962!!! Even more importantly we can replace a Rick Santorum, an embarrassment to our state, with Bob Casey, someone with whom we will not always agree - but someone of whom we can always be proud.
Sincerely
Who's coming to Philly?
2. Congratulations!
$50 is not bad. I hope that the special guest speaker delivers a 'wicked barnburner' of a speech and that soon-to-be Senator Casey raises a lot of money.
You have to post and let us know how it goes. I hope there is a mini-PA meetup at this. Sounds like fun!
3. Darn, I have to go to Philly this weekend and I can't miss any more
work right now. So, a mid-week gathering is not possible. It takes me five hours to get to Philly from home.
It is a shame it couldn't of been on a Friday or Saturday night.
Please let me know how it goes.
8. Again, this is great.
I may be able to see the Sen on Sat in Nashua. (I am not sure. He is there at 11:00 am. This is, literally, 10 minutes from my house. I would just start with the lit drop at noon and then do phonecalls later on. It's a possible. Again, only because he's appearing about 6 miles from my house. Gee, so is Wes Clark and Evan Bayh. Gee, NH folks are way wicked spoiled.)
I will let you know about the Deval Patrick events next Tuesday. One of them is a possible.
Awesome, awesome, awesome on Adm. Sestak. Woo-hoo!!!!!!
10. I haven't received any notice that it was cancelled
and the venue was listing it as of yesterday.
Seems odd he would be in MN in the morning and Philly that evening - I would think he do more short hops.
11. That was what I was thinking.
I checked Casey's site and it is still listed there also. I was just curious about this, because I didn't see it listed on the John Kerry site. I hope there is a large turn out.
