Great Blog post on Sen. Kerry defending veterans from smears
This is great stuff and I completely agree. I think there is something to be said for having run against the RW semar machine in it's full power and voice and living to tell the tale.

Boy, do I ever agree.

Call them out Senator, because bullies wilt under pressure.

1. That's a wonderful post!
Smart guy:

...I don’t subscribe to the idea that the deceptively-named Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did Kerry’s campaign in, nor do I believe that Kerry would have won if he would have fought back more vehemently.

I agree with him. We've allowed the liars to take too much credit, imo.

I think that post is spot on.

2. I agree, too.
This is a Senator who has shown he can learn, adapt, adjust. And he knows that simply having the facts on your side isn't enough--you have to craft your own message and sell it, because the media is lazy and uninterested, for the most part.

3. Here is his whole statement
over at Patrick Murphy's site:

John Kerry: "Mike Fitzpatrick is Engaged in the Lowest Form of Smear"

Levittown, PA – Senator John Kerry, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, released the following statement on Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick’s attempt to “swiftboat” the military record of Patrick Murphy:

“I won’t stand for the ‘swift boating’ of Patrick Murphy. It disgusts me that a congressman who has never worn the uniform of our country stands there in silence as a veteran home from Iraq has his service disparaged.

“No one who has ever served would tolerate this kind of slander about a fellow veteran. In 2000, George Bush stood in silence while John McCain’s service was questioned. It was wrong then, it is wrong now for Mike Fitzpatrick to engage in the same double-speak. What is it these Republicans who never served have against Democrats who did?

“I have news for Mike Fitzpatrick. In war, bullets don’t differentiate between lawyers and medics, enlisted men and officers.

“You know why Mike Fitzpatrick is engaged in the lowest form of smear and fear politics? Because he’s afraid of actually debating Patrick Murphy about the disastrous war in Iraq. He’s afraid to debate a veteran who lives and breathes the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor. He’s terrified of actually leveling with the American people about the way the administration misled America into war, and admitting their stay the course slogans just guarantee more Americans die for a stand still and lose strategy.

“Mike Fitzpatrick should finally find the courage to debate the real issue instead of cowardly having his surrogates try to destroy anyone who speaks truth to power. It’s unacceptable to do this to any leader of any party anywhere in our country.”

4. Wow
Both the post and the Senator's statement are great. Every paragraph of Kerry's speech is powerful. Some one with power to reach the press should have said something like, changing the name to George Bush this about a leader in 2004:

"Mike Fitzpatrick should finally find the courage to debate the real issue instead of cowardly having his surrogates try to destroy anyone who speaks truth to power. It’s unacceptable to do this to any leader of any party anywhere in our country.”

The poster is right Kerry is really calling this guy out. Does anyone know if Murphy is winning.

6. Had this up yesterday
on the Dem Daily, but didn't get a chance to post it here before I got into office furniture rearranging and the computers went off. Good to see another Kerry friendly blog.
