anyone have any experience with the Marmot Pinnacle sleeping bag...?
I just ordered one from REI to replace my 25 year old Moonstone bag, which despite having some holes burned in it and losing some loft over the years is still a pretty decent summer weight bag-- that's a testiment to Moonstone, BTW, because that bag has seen a lot of use over the years. The Moonstone is a synthetic, but I need a down bag for a long bike tour this spring in the eastern Sierras and I wanted a wider comfort range. Anyway, if anyone has glowing comments about the Marmot Pinnacle I'd like to hear 'em.

1. I am delighted with my Polarguard-D and old Lite Loft bags
Yes, I know those are polyester fill. The first is a 2000 Cat's Meow that weighs a mere 3 pounds because it is exactly my height. They don't make them any more. The older one is a Sierra Designs bag from 1990 or so that weighs 4 and 1/2 pounds or so. Many customers had Lite Loft collapse on them and were quite disappointed.

When you are selecting products for cycling, you ought to google up some "ultralight backpacking" sites. You can greatly reduce the weight and bulk you have to carry. By selecting which foods you pack, you can make your stove requirements even smaller.

The Eastern Sierras--I suppose that means east of the divide. I surely am jealous. Have fun. I'm going hiking and maybe skiing in the Sierras in a few weeks.
