Wind up here for the last 24 or so. I was checking the speed on line last night

when the power went out for about two hours. It was probably only 30-40 mph but I don't know how much the big picture window behind this sofa will take so I tried to take Kid out before heading into the living room to wait it out.

I have a new appreciation for what DUers in hurricane states go through. Out there in the wind and with no light and a nervous dog, ("I'm not going to get killed by flying crap so you can pee"). In comparison, this is probably nothing but I've never been afraid of what wind could do before.

Tried to make a nest on the living room couch when I heard Mom's smartphone giving her the PG&E robo- rundown in Spanish. So, I went into her room, pointed my flashlight at her closet mirrors and we had hot chocolate waiting for the power to come back on.

I went back into the studio with the dog and amid five freaking cats. In the morning, the big gate was blown open and the gateway framing knocked over but Mom's two horses were okay on the other side of the place, where they took shelter between two hills. The stabled horses were all cool except for not liking the noise. The wind is still at it now but it's supposed to stop this evening. Everyone seems to feel a little beat up although no one was hurt, thank goodness.

2. Up in the San Jose foothills.
I tried to load a picture for you but for some reason, our connection is sludge right now.

3. I'm glad everyone's okay.
I've always hated the wind, it makes me nervous as hell when I can feel it shift the house.

I hear ya about the critters, I've had to stuff everybody into a tiny bathroom a few times, and some of them can't stand to be near each other.
After 10 minutes of growling, hissing and yowling, I was ready to get out of there and take my chances with the tornado.

Do you like wine?

4. After seeing all the damage in the L.A. area, I think I should kiss the floor.
We had no damage, just stuff tossed around. It still hasn't stopped, actually, but now it's just windy not crazy like it was last night.

Last night was more of a brandy night or even a whiskey night than a wine sipping night, lol. But I haven't restocked after the holiday. Oops. We need some Small Disturbances liquor in the first aid kit. :)

When I was on the beach in San Francisco, I had to practice getting the damn cats into carriers and loading them on a dolly in case of tsunami. It was ridiculous. And with the other hand, theoretically, I'd have my dog on leash. Doug loved those animals but he was terrible in emergencies. Come to think of it, with my third hand, I'd probably be towing him, too. lol

5. Whenever I need peace to meditate I bring out the carriers.
They usually don't show their faces again until feeding time. :D
