1. Holy cow
I knew Sweden had the first Survivor but I had no idea about all these other countries. It would be great to see these shows (with subtitles or English dubbed in) and see how their series compares to ours. It would probably be a real riot to watch!

2. Here's a neat trick they pulled on the latest Dutch/Belgian one
The Dutch and Belgians have always done their Survivors together, apparently. For the first time this season, they split them up by nationality.

Started with 18 people, and pulled the same trick our Survivor pulled in Pearl Islands: They're out on a boat for "publicity photos", and suddenly have to jump in the water and swim for shore.

This time, when they got to shore they had to race to get into a cage. The last person in was immediately booted from the game.

Her tribe, I believe the Belgians, was then removed from the cage and sent to their beach. The Dutch were left in the cage with nothing but water. They were told they could get out when one of them gave up.

Two days later, one of them gave up, and was booted from the game. The tribe was sent to their camp.

The tribe in the cage actually did quite well, as they had already been through such a traumatic experience.

Oh, and they had outcasts that season, too. The outcasts were dumped in a mangrove swamp in the middle of the island, between the other two tribes. The only way they could get supplies, etc., was to steal them from the tribes. If they got caught, they were booted permanently.

I dunno how it worked after that, I just got this word from someone there a couple of episodes in.

4. I"m wondering if they're going to do that this season
In Palau. They're starting with 20 people.

Some have said 4 teams of 5. I could see them do the quick elimination of 2, then have three teams of 6.

I joke sometimes and say they'll have 6 teams of three, and one team of two. :silly:

One possibility is everybody on the same beach. I dunno about that.

I did have a neat variant on this that I thought would be good, but would probably not work:

Everybody's on one beach. When they get to the reward challenge, they all throw in their buffs and draw new ones. These new tribes will remain together until the next reward challenge, through the IC and Tribal Council.

As an alternative, you could have two beaches, and people literally have to move back and forth. That likely wouldn't work as well; why work hard for shelter if you're moving soon?

This would work IF you had a bunch of Rob Cesternino/Richard Hatch/Sandra Diaz/Chris Daughtry types. Folks who relish shifting and changing alliances, etc.

The problem is, we'd likely see a repeat of All Stars, where the good players (threats) get eliminated first, and we're left with a bunch of under the radar players who haven't eliminated people.

But ideally, you'd see people setting up secondary and tertiary alliances, with shifting loyalties and shifting promises predicated on who's allied with who at the time, and who ends up on each tribe. If they cast it full of Richards, it would be a dream to watch. But it'd never happen.

I wouldn't mind seeing two switches one season, though. Maybe this one would be the right one, since they have so many people. Two tribes of ten. Eliminate two, go to three tribes of six. Eliminate two, go to two tribes of 8. Eliminate 6, go to one merge tribe. That'd throw people off big time. :-D
