Breaking Bad - minor spoilers
This show is just starting it's fourth season but I'm just discovering it... and what an awesome show it is. I had heard over and over how great it was but really did not know much about it, so I went into it kind of cold. Right now I am just starting the second season and it is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite shows.

Minor spoilers ahead.

The show is about a middle aged guy that was a chemistry wiz when he was younger but now finds himself a high school chemistry teacher. He finds out he has terminal lung cancer and decides that in order to pay for treatment as well as provide for his family after he is gone, he is going to become a meth cooker/wholesaler. The main cast of characters include:

His wife - Pregnant and concerned about him and how the family is falling apart.
His son - Has some kind of physical dis-ability... if they mentioned exactly what it is.
His wifes sister - A kleptomaniac and general all around nasty person.
The sisters husband - DEA agent that enjoys his work just a little too much.
His partner - Also his former high school student. He is supposed to be the "street smart" end of the partnership but is a total bonehead.

The show is dark, serious and also one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. If you are not watching this, I can't recommend it enough, really good shit :D

3. I could never "get" Curb Your Enthusiasm
I tried... Really. So many people that I know (and we tend to like the same shows) are always playing it up and I've watched 10 or 12 episodes but it just doesn't do anything for me.

Tru Blood, I still have to check out, I just have not had a chance to see it yet.

The Walking Dead, I think I like it a lot more then people that have read the graphic novel(S? Don't know how much there is to this) since I never even heard of it until it was coming on TV.

I can't wait till the new season of Boardwalk Empire. Being a Jersey boy, all I can say is... Fuckin-A, the Jersey shore deserves a show it can be proud of :D

5. I quit watching Tru Blood after a few episodes of the first season.
I thought the show sucked (pun intended). My wife continued watching it, and told me it got a lot better. So I started watching it again, I agree the show got much better. I really like it now.

The Walking Dead comic is about good, brave people slowly turning evil in a world populated with zombies. The TV show is about good, brave people running away from zombies. The comic explores ethics and humanity significantly more than the show. The comic also has a higher character turnover rate; it's fucking brutal.

Watching 10 episodes of Curb is definitely a fair try. Oh well, that is just 30 more minutes for level grinding in some random rpg. :P

2. You are in for some surprises. You may even revise your characterization
of some of the key players as the storyline unfolds. You're right about it being a great show. I was turned on to it quite a while after its premiere, and have been completely hooked ever since. I watch some episodes more than once and enjoy every minute of the exquisite writing, acting and directing.

Enjoy the bad-ness }(

4. You are right
They do a good job of evolving the characters over time. I'm watching episode 1 of season 4 now, still some really great shit!
