Any fans of Carnivale (on HBO)?

Just found out this wonderful series is returning in January, and the DVD of season 1 is being released in 2 weeks! I have another DVD to add to my wish list now.

1. I missed the first few episodes and decided to wait until I could
watch it from the start. Unfortunately, I missed the begining the second and third times around too. Sigh...

And then I heard that it involves the Knights Templar somehow and then I started kicking myself for missing out. :grr:

It's going to be replayed from the start AGAIN Monday's thru Wednesday's at 11pm ET beginning December 6th.

My DVD recorder is ready this time.

Season two starts Jan. 9th.

2. It kicks ass
Starts slow, moves slow, but every moment there's something deep going on.

I can't wait to get the DVDs, so I can take my time and try to figure it all out.

Yeah, the KsT are a serious plot point. It totally kicks butt.

4. I love it.
Yet another DVD set I can't afford right now! I have most of them on tape, though, so it's not TOO bad.

I just hope they improve the snail's pace of the show a little bit. I love mysteries and don't mind having to speculate (that's half the fun of watching a show IMO), but I'd appreciate it if I was let in on stuff just a little bit in the next season.

5. I love the snail's pace
That's the advantage TV has over film, they can take hours and hours to reveal things.

But, according to the preview, they will be revealing some major secrets this season.

6. Thank gods
I admit I came really close to giving up on the show entirely a couple of times.

I don't mind a snail's pace, but I mean give us a crumb or something. That show made me nuts.

7. They're going to have to
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 09:48 PM by Khephra
The major complaint I heard everywhere I went was that it was setting too many things up without resolving anything.

It was really touch-and-go for a second season. I think the only reason it was renewed was because of the awards it won.

Second season may be a bit different as I understand they have a new show-runner. The first one quit to go work on the Galactica series, iirc.

14. Did you watch the replay of the season finale this weekend?
They showed several brief clips from the upcoming season. Quite the teasers.

8. Fun trivia: Clancy Brown, the actor playing the evil priest also plays
Mr Krabs, the salty owner of Krusty Crabs in SpongeBob Square Pants. I have a hard time picking which performance is more awesome.

10. That's where I remember him from
It's been a source of a lot of jokes around my house (my cousin and I are big Highlander fans).

Incidentally, over the weekend I got a promo card for the show at a local comics shop. The DVD's supposed to come out tomorrow according to it (but I saw them at Circuit City on Saturday).

Second season starts Jan. 9. (yay!)

12. And "Bad Boys" in 1983
The Sean Penn film. He played a baddie in that one.

I just checked his IMDBlisting, and he's done a LOT of voice work, too.

15. His sermon
when he returned from his wandering was a work of art. The charisma, the forcefulness, it was just astounding.
