2. I don't even live in a trailer park and I find that offensive
The two shows have entirely different audiences. The Price is Right is a show that attracts a wide variety of people, not necessarily from trailer parks (though the odds are they've probably had a few)...they have lots of military because of their proximity to a couple of bases, college-aged people like me who grew up watching it with their grand/parents, seniors, etc. One of the reasons I like TPiR so much is because their contestants are a pretty good cross-section of America, pretty much every race and age group has been on there unlike on some game shows.

And BTW everyone who lives in a trailer park isn't trashy like the freakshow on Springer. Why I'm even having to point that out on DU, I'm not really sure.

3. I was just noticing show EVERY which has a military group
EVERYTIME one of them is picked as a contestent. (Price is Right). Is this honest and random selection?

And my favorite aunt lives in one now. I was making a joke. Unclench.

6. Two things
A) I'm not a dude and B) I don't care if it was a joke. I do have a sense of humor, one that is pretty dark, but it was a lame joke that's not even really true. Springer makes pretty much every group of people who are represented on that show look like utter trash and it pisses me off. Personally I've never lived in a trailer park but I am a bisexual woman and contrary to Springer we're not all lying, skanky strippers who make out with each other for male enjoyment.

All stereotypes have some small grain of truth in them or else they wouldn't be stereotypes, but the problem with Springer is that when people's only exposure to a certain group is that daytime freak show it can be a major pain in the ass for the 99% of people in that group who aren't complete trash.

8. TPiR really isn't all that bad.
Hey, I grew up watching Dian's... er, um, The Price is Right, yeah. B-)

Since you bring it up, The Price is Right has probably featured the most diversity of any gameshow in both its' audience and its' contestants, long before it was fashionable to do so. Everyone, and I mean everyone, could make it on that show and potentially come away from it a real winner. That aspect, along with Bob Barker, and for quite a while, Miss Dian Parkinson, have been part of the show's enduring appeal to many, many millions of people. Not just Trailer Park residents, though there's absolutely nothing inherently wrong with counting oneself among them.

Except for Dian being gone now (), as I said there's absolutely nothing wrong with TPiR, as far as liking it, being on it or watching it.
