Hello from my new home!
Hello from South Korea! After a very stressful week of packing, sending my things to storage, driving to Los Angeles, storing my car, getting my cats on a plane, flying to Korea, and then taking a train to Daegu, I am finally here. Whew!

I know this has nothing to do with TV but the TV Chat Group is where I post most often and have the most fun. I missed the second episode of Survivor: Exile Island, last night's Project Runway, and a few others (including Flavor of Love which is so crazy I am drawn to it). Anyone know if there is some place online to view any of these? Survivor is shown on AFN here so I can watch the rest of the season, but I'd like to see episode 2.

I was here visiting in September so I do know some of the places in the immediate area where I live. It has rained daily since I got here and it is cold. Wet and cold is not fun so I haven't done much exploring. Plus, my husband had to go back to work the day after I got here (he came back to the US to help move).

One bit of sad news: after being told by the military, people who should know here in Korea, the US Fish and Wildlife Service and USDA, and others that my turtle WOULD be allowed into the country, she is not. She is still at customs near Seoul while they file paperwork with the Korean government asking permission (very doubtful) and in 15 days if they still say no, we have to send her back to the US. We have no one to send her to. If I had not been told by so many that supposedly researched it that she was allowed in, I would have worked on finding another home for her before I left.

6. Thanks for the link
I can keep up on all the shows! My kitties are doing well but they miss having stairs to run up and down. Now they'll get big and fat. LOL

2. South Korea; I hope you enjoy your stay and get to meet
lots of nice people there. Keep us posted! Where did you live before moving? My husband taught for a few weeks there in winter and also thought it cold, though he was traveling there from Guam, which has no winter.
How big is your turtle? I might be able to turtle-sit if necessary. Or release her into the garden. We have a flood control ditch behind our house where lots of wildlife hang out as it usually has some water in it; a big turtle visited us last summer, plus it's relatively warm in TX.
Let me know if I can help!

7. Thanks!
I lived in Colorado for less than 2 years before moving here. It snowed a couple days ago and I've been told that is probably the last time it will snow for the year. It is already gone!

I wrote below in another post that they are giving me a waiver for my turtle. :woohoo: She's 9 inches long, quite big.

3. Wow! I didn't know you were moving to S.Korea.
Is your husband military?

Here's a site for Flavor Flav: http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/flavor_of_love/series.jhtml

He just got rid of Goldie tonight....that leaves psycho NY, Punkin, and Hoopz. I'm pretty sure they're keeping NY around for drama, just like they kept Santino around on Project Runway.

Hope things work out ok with your turtle.

:hi: across the "other" pond.

8. Yep, he is
He's been here since last April. I was just waiting for approval.

Thanks for the site. I watched the shortened episodes plus the extra scenes. Yikes, Punkin spitting on NY was quite a fight. I hope NY loses because I want to see the look on her face. She's so possessive!

10. You should have seen NY's mom!!!
What a head case. She said a marriage would never, never, (5 more nevers!) happen. Told NY she was too fat, in front of Flav in the limo, told Flav he had no business at his age, 46, messing around with the younger women. She was just awful which explained NY a bit. He shouldn't have booted Punkin...she really got the shaft.

Glad to hear about the turtle!

4. Qanisqineq - Glad you got in safe, but that sucks about your turtle

I'm glad your move went safely, but what bad news about your pet. Let us know if you can't find a home for her before the 15 days are up. Maybe we can help find someplace for her.

As for survivor, I taped the second episode. If you have a VHS player I can mail you a copy of the tape. PM me your address.

Also, I figured your move kept you from jumping in the new contest. As Grand Puba of the Survivor contest I herby invoke the "prior season's winner moves to South Korea and can not pick a Survivor on time" rule and invite you to pick a survivor anyway. You deserve to be in the contest again.

Good luck with exploring. Keep us posted on your activities and tell us how TV is over there. I hope the US networks are not pawning our bad TV to South Koreans.

Things are great with me. The baby is doing well. We are getting more sleep now. She is so beautiful and I love just holding her and watching her sleep. It is a real trip to have a kid.

9. Thanks, but I'll wait for the next contest
The person I would have picked is already gone anyway. I would have lost after episode 2! I did break down and pay for episode 2 ($1.99 on CBS's site). I'm afraid the military guy is going to win (I'm married to the military but that doesn't mean I like it! LOL) but I hope Bruce wins.

I'm surprised there is no thread for The Amazing Race! I was all excited about getting to watch that here on AFN, too, but it is on a different channel of AFN. A channel we don't have since we live outside the army base and have Korean cable. We can get a dish to get the extra channels but there is a 2 month waiting list.

There are a few American television shows on the Korean channels - 'The Nanny', 'Grace Under Fire', 'Las Vegas', and a lot of the E! shows about celebrities (including the drunken Tara Reid show).

Good to hear you are getting some rest. Time flies and soon you will be chasing her around the house (or so I hear)! I'm told my neice (born last July) is crawling and pulls herself up now. Last I saw her, she was just learning to roll over.

5. Ack! Sorry for not replying for so long
I have had problems with my computer blowing a circuit breaker AND problems with connecting to the internet. I would get a few minutes of internet time before the dreaded click of the breaker in the other room. They put in a new circuit breaker and then a day later the internet started acting goofy. Just my luck.

Good news on my turtle. After an appeal to the government, they granted her a waiver! I get her tomorrow. The way it sounds, they have been taking good care of her. She's in water and they feed her and everything, more than I expected (she can survive without food for a good while as long as she has water).
