Ridley Scott to direct ‘Alien’ prequel

Posted: 10:47 AM ET

Face-huggers, a killer creature with way too many teeth and, of course, the chest-bursting scene.

Ridley Scott unleashed a monster that’s been scaring fans for 30 years when he directed the sci-fi classic “Alien” in 1979.

The film spawned three sequels and a couple of “Alien vs. Predator” movies.

Now Scott has signed up to direct a prequel to “Alien,” Variety reports.

The original, starring Sigourney Weaver and Tom Skerritt, followed the crew of the commercial space ship Nostromo as it responds to a beacon from a mysterious planet and finds itself becoming prey to a parasitic monster.

In the film’s most infamous scene, John Hurt’s character Kane, seen in the photo on the right, “gives birth” to the creature.

Now word yet on the plot of the prequel, but fans are speculating whether the movie would focus on the crashed alien spaceship and the giant skeletonized “space jockey” the Nostromo crew encounters on the planet.

1. As I mentioned in the Entertainment forum
There is no story so respected that Ridley Scott can't fuck it up.

We'll probably find out that Ripley is a Replicant.

2. kick ass!!!
If it is a prequel, then how would Humans be involved? because the Xenomorph has obviously been around longer then we have.

I had always assumed that the Xenomorph was a hybrid of several specimens created by the Predator for rights of passage rituals and sport. But as I read the comics and the Omnibus collects, it appears that they are species all their own.

In the Omnibus collections, there is a central hive on the Xenomorphs home world. Bigger and meaner creatures then what we have seen, Xenomorphs that guard the Queen of Queens who are bigger, stronger and faster then all.

Also in one series, After the assault on LV-426 by the Marines and Ripley, Ripley and another company of troops go to the Xenomorph home world to collect the Queen of Queens. The learn this from a Space Jockey which we learn is not so much a friend, there is also an outbreak of Xenomorphs on Earth you could tell at the end of Resurrection when Ripley and Call land at the end of the film.

I look forward to this prequel and I hope they go for an R rating, not that PG-13/NC-17 bullshit. The next AVP better be R as well and think that is what Rodriguez will be going for.

3. I just can't imagine that it won't be unspeakably awful
Love to be proven wrong, though.

4. I am sure when the story started it had some more background to it..
I do not think you have anything to worry about, since the original writers are on board for it.

It will be bad ass..
