1. That had to been the easiest decision ever
for a network executive.

3. my comment on potential spoiler
I'm guessing that it is Mary McDonnell coming back, as she is supposed to die some time soon. I just hope they don't make it cheesy with her getting some miracle cure to be able to live longer...

4. Actually, I think it's more than that...
Spoiler theory below (highlight to see, but don't say I didn't warn you.

->Since they said "The entire ensemble cast returns for the new season, including Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park." It's safe to assume that nobody dies in the second half of season 2. then again, they could be messing with us.<-

5. Lot's of Ways She Could Still Be In The Series Even Though She's Dead
She could appear in flashbacks, visions etc. Heck, they could even introduce a Cylon version of her (though I doubt it).

6. Who's to say she's not?
Cylons could have planted her to become "miraculously" cured and thus mess with the minds of humans.
