Your top 5 all-time favorite sci-fi TV shows?
Mine:

1. Star Trek
2. Star Trek Deep Space Nine
3. Babylon 5
4. Star Trek Next Gen
5. The Twilight Zone

I also love BSG, and Firefly. However, I didn't list BSG because it's still on the air, and Firefly had such a short run.

1. 1. Star Trek
2. Original Outer Limits
3. New BSG
4. Farscape
5. Babylon5

Honorable mention, all the other Treks and 6 Million Dollar Man. To be honest I don't remember clearly enough if this was done well or not but I know I loved it as a kid and I've been thinking of it a lot lately. I think it's a good canidate for a remake.

2. I loved The Six Million Dollar Man as a kid too.
I also loved Space 1999, and Lost in Space. Sadly, they aren't as good as I remembered them as a child.

5. yes, but the influence got you into Sci-Fi in general
So, mission accomplished on the part of those shows... sort of like how I used to play 1st edition D&D in the late 70s & early 80s and it looks a bit strange now with all the inconsistencies and imbalance in the game.

8. Goodies
1. BSG (current)
2. The X-Files
3. Space 1999
4. The Twilight Zone
5. Fireball X-15

Firefly too. Argh, 5 is just too limiting! :) Ooo! And The Thunderbirds! I remember the 6 million dollar man and the Bionic Woman (had such a crush on her!) Those 2 shows seem so...well, hokey now but I have a softspot for whenever I see Lee Majors on TV, 'specially in that one recent computer ad...

PS: Yeah, yeah - I liked BSG TOS too; that one is up there also, but TNS just trumps it so hard now.

9. oh, forgot about X-Files
here I was thinking of syndicated shows and minor network shows, and I forgot all about one of the biggies... though, I'd still have to add that to my honorable mention list.

I used to like that show, esp. before Kari Wuhrer came on the show (granted, Kari is better looking than the woman she replaced... but, I didn't like her on the show as much) Another honorable mention for me.

16. That's a tough one...
But I'd have to say:

1. Babylon 5
2. Battlestar Galactica (the new one)
3. Farscape
4. Firefly
5. The Prisoner (Not really completely sci-fi, but damn cool, nonetheless)

17. My five
1. Firefly,
2. Red Dwarf
3. Alien Nation
4. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (BBC)
5. Deep Space Nine

I hate the fact that Star Trek was always so clean and shiny. Even on Voyager, nothing ever really deteriorated - you'd think that the wall panels would have gotten grubby or broken or something. The Star Treks never looked real or lived in, and the people were nearly always too good to be true. I liked DS9 because the other cultures were willing to still be real - greedy or grasping or jealous of land or whatever.

Thus, my love for Firefly and Red Dwarf. I want realism in my SF, dammit.

20. I agree on "too clean" especially ST Voyager.
They missed an opportunity there, I think, for series long continuity. In one episode they could have installed some replacement alien technology which works, but, say, you have to crawl around it to get down one hallway. For the rest of the series you could have had characters reacting to it in various ways, humorous, pissed, frantic (as they run from a monster). Heck, making out on it.

The ship should have been a patchwork when it got home. People in the space dock could have been gawking at the sight of it.

They could have bronzed the ship and placed it an orbit of honor. Instead, eh, it's just an old ship. Ah well.

What a waste of scripts.

That was something I loved about Star Wars when it came out. The Imperials were all clean and shiny. The Rebellion all beat up and dirty. A lived in, growing universe was illustrated by the contrast. Lovely.

18. This is too hard
but making the cut...

  1. Star Trek: TOS
  2. Doctor Who (all of them)
  3. Star Cops (very short lived Chris Boucher series)
  4. Blake's Seven
  5. Babylon 5

This list really changes upon the day of the week you ask me. Other shows in alternate Top 5's would be Stargate SG1, Firefly, Star Trek: TNG, Twilight Zone (1980s edition with the Grateful Dead theme music), The Prisoner, Star Trek: The Animated Series, Farscape, and (not quite scifi but very twisted, early 1990s) Eerie, Indiana.
