ST Enterprise Tonights Episode
"The Forge" Outstanding episode if you ask me. I was fixated on the TV for its entirety. I can always tell a weaker episode, I tend to multitask, such as post here on DU and watch at the same time. No posting during this episode.

I love the exploration of Vulcan lore and strict maintenance of Star Trek canon. We all know Surak form TOS, and to explore his teachings more closely is interesting. I particularly liked the analogy between Surak's teachings and Earth's early religions. I admit, the Syrrannites, appear to be Vulcan Fundies.

We get some mind melding, passage of Vulcan essence, and spectacular views of Vulcan. Who could ask for more?

As for the characters, this episode centers on T'pol and Archer, both of which are strong characters. Jolene Blalock is a bit thin and overly endowed, if you know what I mean. Her character is complex and plays true to the struggle between emotion and logic, that we have seen before with the character Spock.

As for Scott Bakula he is outstanding as Archer, strong as any of the other captains. At first, I wondered how the guy from Quantum Leap could be the central character in a Star Trek series. But, he is perfect. Kind of reminds me of Kirk, but a bit more serious.
Can't wait for next week.

For those who despise ST Enterprise, your missing out. Live long and prosper.

1. the Syrrannites, appear to be Vulcan Fundies.
I also loved the beginning of this three part arc. The thought came to me that the High Command were Neo-cons. They use force at the drop of the hat. They lie to get what they want. The High Command talks about logic all the time, but rarely uses it. Also the High Command demonize the Syrrannites, and we learn they're willing to falsely set them up so they can eliminate the group. This episode had many similarities with current events from the war, cracking down on Civil liberties to religious infighting . . .etc.

2. Looks like the
Syrrannites eventually become the majority. They sound more like the culture we see through Spock in the original series, perhaps a bit tempered in the "mystical" aspects by Spock's time.

Exactly
It's interesting to say the least, to find out that humans are part of this major transformation in the Vulcan society.

4. Damn, I haven't' seen an episode this season

I'm just catching the end of this one. Looks good, but I have no idea what's going on.

I gave Voyager 7 years to get better, but was never happy with the show. Overall, so far, from what I've seen, Enterprise gives me a new appreciation of Voyager.

Not that I've given up on Enterprise, but so far its been a little disappointing. A lot of that might stem from the premise, tho. I'd rather see ST series that focused on an Enterprise that is exploring even farther reaches of space, maybe a few decades ahead of the time TNG and Voyager were set

But the few minutes I caught of tonights ep clearly showed an improvement I feel like I missed something good, and now I'll have to wait until next Summer to see it.

I'll definitely catch next weeks episode.

5. This Season Has Been Tremendous
I recomend you watch and go back and watch the last three episode arc. This one though looks like it's even better.

I like this 3 episode arc thing. Having the whole season be against the Xindi was a problem because I missed episodes got lost, etc.

This season though, we're dealing with the roots of the star trek lore. Genetic Supermen ala Khan, The Initial Spark of Data's Creation, and now the basis for Vulcan theology.

I'm loving it.

9. I am definetely seeing improvement...
I only hope that it doesn't end after four seasons, it would really suck to have it cut off after it finally is getting decent, the first two seasons were somewhat like TNG's first two (bad).

10. To me, an obvious indictment of the current PNAC government
The High Command engineers a "terrorist" attack and tries to pin it on a fundamentalist faction.... Hmmm, sound vaguely familiar to anyone? We need our own Enterprise to come and help us out of THIS government.
