The Dougal Dixon appreciation thread
I love this guy's "future biology" books. I just ran across "The Future is Wild" in the bookstore. Is there anything cooler than a land-dwelling squid, or a ground-nesting octopus?

I also noticed that Vernor Vinge cribbed his idea for social spiders in "Across Realtime".

1. I really enjoyed his stuff
although I thought the Future Is Wild stuff was a watered down version of his first book. After Man was fascinating, as was the New Dinosaurs.

Fantastic works of imagination, and pretty believable. Probably anathema to any anti-evolutionists, though.
