I've re-watched it this week and it seems to me to be pretty relevant to what's going on now.
:hi:

3. I don't remember.
I suspect my brain, as a self-defense mechanism, flushed it into a dark corner along with Andromeda, Enterprise, and pretty much everything on the Sci-Fi Channel that isn't Farscape or Stargate.

Why yes, the pyramids are lovely this time of year, thanks for asking.

5. Do you remember her...

Jessica Alba, she was the star. It was on Fox from 2000 to 2002. It was so good, make it come back.

6. It was too expensive to make
I remember reading an interview after it was cancelled where the producer basically stated that it was one of the most expensive shows they had ever done. The sets were huge, they did a lot of off-set filmwork that required extensive permitting (shutting down freeways and roads for shots, just like major movies), and the story required tons of extras for most of the shots. Dark Angel had pretty good ratings, but they weren't good enough to bring in the big $$ advertisers required to make a show like that make any money (it was a money pit from day 1).

Fox told the producer that he had to either jack up his ratings, cut costs, or cancel the show. After looking at the market, they decided that they couldn't jack up the ratings without killing off the scifi aspect in favor of a more "mass market sci-fi soap opera approach" (which would have killed the series as we knew it anyway). They also couldn't figure out any way to reduce the shows budget without significantly cutting into the quality of the storyline or the world they had created.

Given the choice between cancelling the show or keeping a hacked up, crappier version on the air, the shows creators took the honorable way out and cancelled the show in its entirety.
