Poll question: Where do you think the core reform should be?
The one which would have the potential to reverse, even if over a long period of time, the trend towards generalized stupidity and manipulability of the people.
Now, think about this for a little more than a minute. I'm talking about the thing that you see at the very *core* of the democratic development of our society. The one which would be worth losing for, on behalf and for the sake of the coming generations.

1. It's hard to say
I think both reforming the media and separation of church and state are vital. To do one without the other is pointless.

2. That's what a strategy is:
The science of the goals.

3. I'm not following
Your response seems a non sequitor to me, so I must be missing something.

5. I mean that to win the reversal war
a central goal must be chosen and kept in mind through the battles. That's what is missing imo. No goal, no victory, just a series of fruitless battles, won or lost, it does not matter. Once the strategy has been set one can proceed to a tactical reflection (tactics: the science of the means).

6. But what if two goals are dependent on each other?
That was my point. If they are, you've got to pursue both at once.

8. If they are dependent
one must logically contain at least some of the conditions of the other. According to lotd (post below), reform of the electoral system precedes the others: when people's voice is heard as is, it's easier to implement other reforms, like a regulation of the media. One could also make the opposite point: by reforming the media first, one makes easier a democratic control of the elections. Strategy is not a simple thing... That's why I thought important that people like us, not encumbered by beliefs, discuss it.

4. we've had three corrupt elections in a row since the coup of 2000
until that's fixed, nothing else will even count.

literally.

The media is the key to reversing the "generalized stupidity."

But until we have legitimate elctions again, that won't matter.

7. You might be right...
Still seems to me that some form of media regulation would help get to 1-... We are in a situation of quasi-monopoly media-wise. The situation as far as radio is psrticularly amazing. Clear Channel and affiliates control nearly every station in "deep America". Where I live, they even edit the 60's songs to remove "shit"..! Not a beep, just digitally engineered so that nobody even realizes that the song has been censored!
