Wyndgate Country Club cancels Dawkins Speech. (Doesn't want THOSE people...)
Edited on Wed Oct-12-11 07:04 AM by PassingFair
I'm going to see Richard Dawkins speak tonight! I'm SO excited to meet him.

I accidentally got the last two tickets
of his sold-out lecture tonight, when I
called to inquire about protests being
organized because a local country club
just CANCELLED the fundraiser because they
didn't want atheists coming there!

The event was moved to another location,
and there was a last minute cancellation, so
I got tickets for myself and my husband.

Hello, early Christmas present!

A part of me wishes that I was protesting at the
other venue. Maybe we can show up there and support
the protest groups....I'm going to see Richard Dawkins speak tonight!

1. And shockingly, there are plenty of believers on DU who see absolutely no problem with this.
I mean, it's just a group of people being turned away from using a facility. It's not like that's REAL discrimination, right?

Congrats to you, though! Have never seen him speak in person but it would be a nice treat.

2. The Center for Inquiry told me that they were looking into a lawsuit.

Apparently, Michigan laws prevent venues from
discriminating against individuals, but not
organizations.

Don't you just LOVE the "Cukoo for CocoPuffs"
picture that the media uses for Dawkins these
days?

I noticed that the same picture used in the article
was used by O'Lielly.
