1. "You are ignoring the author of this thread"
But I'm pretty sure I know who it is. That's why I ignore him. What's the point?

So I massacred 223 Cristeros. But I was just getting even...

1940 - Between 1931 and 1940, at least 223 rural teachers were assassinated by the Cristeros and other Catholic armed groups, because of their atheist and socialist education.

6. Oh, about that Wiki "State Atheism" page...
Often quoted by the Usual Suspects in R/T...as though it's the last and final word on the subject.

Anyone else ever looked at that thing? I did today.

At the very top of the page...

The neutrality of this article is disputed. Please see the discussion on the talk page. Please do not remove this message until the dispute is resolved. (August 2011)

This article contains weasel words: vague phrasing that often accompanies biased or unverifiable information (August 2011)

Then, over on the comments page:

This article is absolutely biased with a clear religious slant and should be changed accordingly. Weasel words such as "believer" rather than "religious" and phrases using the word "faith" rather than "religion" need to be changed to reflect a unbiased view.

...Also, the term "religious freedom" is broad and misleading in this context because it refers to freedom of personal religious expression, not freedom of religious organization as a political force. Frankly, this article currently reads like propaganda.--76.173.238.17 (talk) 20:17, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Well, we know who invented the term "propaganda:"

The term “propaganda” apparently first came into common use in Europe as a result of the missionary activities of the Catholic church. In 1622 Pope Gregory XV created in Rome the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. This was a commission of cardinals charged with spreading the faith and regulating church affairs in heathen lands. A College of Propaganda was set up under Pope Urban VIII to train priests for the missions.

I'll be he's underfoot right now, watching for any possible post here to alert on even though his clear rule violations are allowed to stand.

And yet it is still there. There is NO chance I could post anything near that about religious and have it remain more than an hour.

I don't often go into R&T, it's too biased. That post should have been deleted very quickly. That it wasn't proves the bias there.

24. While it's up to the admins what the rules are...
what bothers me is that there seems to have been a misunderstanding of the import of my post on the thread. I was pointing out that broadbrushing atheists on the grounds of some undesirable individuals and groups happening to be atheists is equivalent to doing the same to Christians; I was not actually broadbrushing the Christians! Maybe I'll go back to the thread and make this more explicit!

I was surprised that your post was referenced in ATA, since it was obviously giving an example of how humblebum's reasoning is flawed and not making those statements in earnest.

25. One thing that occurs to me...
is that people are preoccupied with militant atheism, but what about militant political anti-atheism? As most of my personal experiences with religious people have been reasonably positive, and as I live in a country where the religious right is *relatively* small, I do not have a general problem with religion. However, anyone who uses religion as a weapon to support right-wing policies, or to smear and defeat left/liberal political candidates, can go to the warm place that I don't believe in!
