Snapped this pic at the end of my street last night.

Hey! I let my kids go to AWANA at this
hell-hole!

I told my husband that if we "accidentally" drove
through their cheap-ass stained glass window that
they'd "believe" in us!

1. Why are they so concerned? Threatened much?
Threatened by reason. I've never had such disdain for religious types but in the last 10 years the contempt is turning in to anger.

3. Amazing that so many religious people
just happen to be divine mind-readers. Too bad that their god has no voice to clear up all these misunderstandings, then they wouldn't have to be so terrified of non-believers. If he had the power they ascribe to him, I presume he could just smite us and be done with us once and for all.

6. We were safe, even back in the Smiting Days
Psalm 14:1 - "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God."

Proof that even in the Golden Age of Gawd, people were walking around saying It didn't exist.

And the result was...atheists turned to pillars of salt? Suffering 10 plagues? Eaten by a she-bear?

No, just one snarky line in the Old Testament from some asshat...who I suspect had just lost a debate to a non-believer and was pissed off about it.

7. That pillar of salt story....
How convenient that Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt. I could never buy that the old perv took his two virginal teenage daughters to live in a cave and these two virgins got so horny that conspired to get him drunk and have sex with him. To me, that sounds like Carl Rove's reasoning: claim that the other side is responsible for what you have done and stick with it. Is that history, mythology or just a plain ol' lie?

8. As I understand it - just an ethnic slam.

According to the Bible myths, Lot canoodled with his daughters and each girl gave birth to a son.

The two sons founded the Moabite and Ammonite tribes. And those tribes grew up to occupy some choice pieces of land that the Israelites wanted to take away from them.

But unlike a bunch of other tribes who lived on land the Israelites wanted (and got slaughtered) - the Old Testament Gawd strictly prohibited his chosen people from attacking the Moabites and Ammonites.

AFAIK, no explanation is given - it's just one of those lovely random, arbitrary laws Gawd came up with, like cutting off foreskins and not eating pork.*

No doubt frustrated by this, the Israelites concocted the yarn about Lot, the cave and the daughters. So they could always look down their noses at the Moabites and Ammonites:

"Ha-ha! Your whole TRIBE was founded on INCEST - losers!"

*Damn, I'm tired of apologists horking up that old BS about how the Bronze Age goat-herders were SO smart because they knew pork would kill you. Nobody really knew that until well into the 19th century, when trichinosis was discovered. And plenty of ancient cultures loved pork - smoked ham was a basic ration in the Roman army. Archelogists know where the Romans camped during the siege of Jerusalem because they find pig bones in those areas, which are otherwise not likely to be found in Jerusalem.

10. Wild pigs scavenge and the are, like dogs, omnivorous.
Hogs used to flood ancient battlefields once the armies moved along to feast on the corpses of the fallen who were left behind unburied. I'm pretty sure that's where the no pork injunction came about. Trichinosis parasites (worms) are visible in the flesh of infected animals (at least the mature ones are, but the eggs are microscopic at first) and curing various cuts of pork from hocks to hams to neckbones with brine or smoke killed the parasites, as does thorough cooking. I bought a pork roast in a Manhattan bodega about 30 years ago that had a big-ass trichinosis worm running through it. Disgusting!

Offering up those same two daughters to a mob looking for someone to gang rape.

14. Yeah, like you and your stalker over there...
He's come after me a couple of times, but he REALLY likes harassing you. He reminds me of a small but very energetic leg-humping dog.

I love watching the two of you - it's like the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. The guy just does not know when to quit. He can be caught lying, misquoting, being grossly wrong about history etc. etc. - and he just keeps coming back. One of those "determined to have the last word, even if it's wrong" types.

Of course, "does not know when to quit" applies to several in that group. Sometimes they respond to their own posts to try and keep an argument going ("Oh, one more thing..."). Incredible.
