Gag.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x6739384

This reminds me of an experience I decided against sharing in R/T where less than an hour ago, my dog and I were subjected to two different people telling us that Jesus loves us every day. If I stood on the sidewalk and told people passing by that no gods exist and that Jesus wasn't a real person I'd probably be shouted down and/or attacked.

Well anyway, time to go attend to that other thread...

3. Same old, same old. "Blessed are the cheesemakers."
Believer quotes Sermon on the Mount as though no one has ever heard it before.

Sane person points out unpeaceful quotes from Jebus.

Hilarity ensues.

"Well, that violent stuff was added LATER. The stuff I like personally is the REAL shit"

5. Yep. And the usual twisted history...
I almost weighed in, but managed to restrain myself. I learned long ago that in regard to religion, history operates (like so many other things) according to special rules laid down by the believers. And they do not want to hear otherwise.

e.g., somebody posted that the revolt in Jerusalem happened "a few years after Jesus' death." It happened about thirty years after the Alleged Jesus allegedly died.

And the Evil Roman Empire destroyed the Jerusalem Temple. But they didn't have much choice. The...er...insurgents barricaded themselves in the Temple compound and turned the place into a fortress. Getting them out had to be a massive operation - the Temple courtyard alone was about the size of 4 football fields.

A costly operation, too. One of my books about the Roman legions talks about how the wooden porticos in the Temple were used as weapons. The Zealots lured Roman soldiers into the porticos, then set them on fire, burning the Romans alive in full view of their comrades below.
