Ugh. Should I even bother?
I've received yet another email from an ubber-pious relative. Looking at the list of the recipients, it's clear that this email is mostly preaching to the choir. Except for me, everyone that received this is sympathetic to the sentiment. I think the sender knows this will get a rise out of me (or is trying to convert me :eyes:)

Every once in a while I'll take the time to "reply all" to these moronic screeds. In the past I have received both positive and negative (very negative) responses from others. But I wonder if it's really worth the effort.

What would my fellow evil atheists do?

If you found this to be 'Food for thought' copy and send to as many as you think will be enlightened as I hope you were. (Please note that at no time is anyone told that they MUST worship God.)

GOD BLESS AMERICA even when we forget to Praise Him!

1. This is the kind of bullshit that puts people on mail block
and I don't give a shit if they're relatives or co workers. I really don't want this garbage clogging up my email, something that is already full of work at home and get rich quick in real estate scams. I can't do anything about the spam but I can do something about proselytizing jerks.

If they need to get in touch with me, they can pick up the phone or send me a postcard.

Assholes like this don't deserve technology.

3. If you want to, you could list some choice quotes from the Founders.
There could be several other people like you on the list, and maybe a few more, that really don't appreciate the preaching.

5. Well, I think I'm letting this one go.
I composed a pretty good response this morning in the shower. But now, sitting at the computer, my heart just doesn't seem to be in it. Feels too much like arguing with 6th graders.

I think I'll save the fight for the inevitable pre-election RW falderal emails.

I like the idea of Christophiles getting a link to somebody named "punkerslut..."

http://www.punkerslut.com/books/arealeducation/chapter2.html

I'm sure your spammer will especially enjoy this quote on the page...

The so-called religious organizations which now lead the war against the teaching of evolution are nothing more, at bottom, than conspiracies of the inferior man against his betters.

They mirror very accurately his congenital hatred of knowledge, his bitter enmity to the man who knows more than he does, and so gets more out of life.

Certainly it cannot have gone unnoticed that their membership is recruited, in the overwhelming main, from the lower orders -- that no man of any education or other human dignity belongs to them. What they propose to do, at bottom and in brief, is to make the superior man infamous -- by mere abuse if it is sufficient, and if it is not, then by law.
-- H.L. Mencken, Homo Neanderthalensis, The Baltimore Evening Sun, June 29, 1925.
