This is the sickest thing I've ever seen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_gngEUCMTw Link goes to "baby bible bashers" a documentary from the UK on child preachers. I can't say how disturbing this is.

1. I'd like a copy of that

wow those are some abused kids - I don't know how they would ever get over it. They've been rewarded so heavily for their backward thinking.
did anyone notice that they asked for the camera to be turned off when they wanted to beat their kids?

Edit: it almost gets to be like some paranoia disorder for some of them.

2. Al Sharpton started like that.
That Terry Durham is some performer, reminiscent of Little Stevie Wonder. This stuff is nothing new.

3. Ugh
:scared: :puke:

Why would anybody warp a child's mind like that?

4. I think it's telling that a small child
has all the intellectual development necessary to lead these people. I mean, how old are these kids and they're already capable of everything you need to be a successful preacher. And that father... Todd whatever... could he be any more transparently in it for the money?

5. He's not grown enough to actually raise his kids, but he's grown enough to manage his meal ticket.
Actually all the parents seemed like grade A scum. The alabama family are child abusers, and the brazilian dad gave off a creepy pedo vibe, the mother was so marginalized and he was so exalted ('this is my Dad, he's the center of the universe and sunshine escapes from his ass when he farts, this is my mom, she washes my clothes') and it was sick how his daughter would praise him and god in the same worshipful tone.

9. I'm glad somebody else picked up on that.
I was afraid to say anything because I thought it was too weird, but he totally gave off a creepy pedo vibe. And she totally worshiped him.

Yeah, so when the twins are born he wants nothing to do with them and hands them off to his mother. Fast forward nine years and the gravy train pulls into the station and there he is, managing his son's "empire." Some Jesus freak he is, having children out of wedlock.

And the Southern father was so cruel. Taking his son to the streets of Manhattan and putting him up to be ridiculed. What a traumatic experience.

13. Yep - all you need to do is puke out a few key words in a theatrical style.
Hellfire, Jeebus, damnation, etc.

6. You might be able to find...
...an old documentary from the Seventies named Marjoe. Story of an American child evangelist named Marjoe Gortner. (His first name is a combination of "Mary" and "Joseph." Cute, eh?)

Gortner was the youngest person ever ordained in California, IIRC. His parents ripped off all his money and left him broke in his teens.

A few years later, he hooked up with a camera crew and went on the road with a tent revival. There are amazing scenes of him swilling bourbon and smoking dope, then going onstage minutes later and knocking the rubes dead with his Jesus-shouting.

7. Thanks for the reminder
I'd been meaning to track that down but it had slipped my mind. Found myself a torrent of it.

8. Something that struck me:
This was on Channel 4, the fourth-largest broadcaster in the UK behind BBC 1, ITV and BBC 2. If it were on American teevee other than PBS, it'd either be on some jerkwater cable network with 23 subscribers or, if on "60 Minutes" or "Dateline," it'd be watered down so that the kids would be depicted as "chosen" and not the products of fucked-up families and societies.

12. Ok, I don't know much about the psychology of the relationship of twins
but one has to wonder how Todd's twin feels like being treated like a spare tire.

I'll try to watch the other parts later tonight. This is really awful.

From the time she was about 8 until her late teens. Then she met me. Now she is just a fucking slut.
