Do the Illuminati really exist today?
Edited on Tue Jan-26-10 08:47 PM by icymist
As the world stumbles into the next decade and the sand in the hour glass finally stops falling onto the Mayan apocalyptic year 2012, there exist millions of people worldwide who are of strong belief that an ultra secret fraternity of men who have the ability to manipulate the world’s banks and governments exist and are currently actively engaged in creating a one world government (a new world order) that will ultimately usher in the reign of the Antichrist.

The name of this fraternity which is rumored to be fused in ancient pagan tradition and mysticism is known by the world as the Illuminati. The world’s belief in this secret society has grown so strong that an enormous subculture of Illuminati “watchers” has sprung up around the globe from Manhattan to Rome to Beijing.

In an attempt to separate fact from fiction let us begin with understanding what history tells us of the origin of one of the world’s most secretive fraternities.

Born from rebellion against Church and State

The Illuminati are a progressive, secret sect of secular humanists, sometimes referred to by the world as "the bearers of the light". The “bearers of the light” were founded in Bavaria on May 1, 1776 by a university professor named Adam Weishaupt. Weishaupt, a scholar who was academically tutored and nurtured by the Jesuits, became rebellious of the Catholic Church and in his rebellion, created a society originally known as the Order of the Perfectabilists. The goal of the Perfectabilists was to oppose the power of the Church and State; their ultimate goal was the development of an egalitarian society.
