Whose God? My Pagan Gods? (Starhawk)
It’s all very well to propose amending the Constitution to be in line with ‘God’s standards’—the question is always, which God? What set of standards? And who gets to decide?

I’m a Pagan. We have many Gods, with widely varying sets of standards. Are we going to amend the Constitution in favor of Hera, Goddess of marriage, or Aphrodite, Goddess of unbridled love? Do we mandate the wild, ecstatic worship of the goat-god Pan, or the more sedate contemplation of Sophia, Goddess of wisdom?

3. Great article...
... and I have often wondered this myself. A coupla years ago, when Texas was in the midst of it's "(dude symbol) + (dudette symbol) = MARRIAGE" craze, there were people everywhere (in Houston at least!) spouting off to anyone who would listen about how "God" wanted marriage to be only between a man and a woman.

I asked several of such individuals what god in particular they were talking about, as my God, Zeus is bi-sexual. This usually just caused them to cease speaking totally, turn a nice shade of purple, puce, or beet red, and begin moving their mouth like a goldfish. I know that was probably mean, but it got them to shut up long enough so I could get away from them!

Thanks for the great article!
