Need a song for a pro-Gore music video
I want to create a music video to put "out there" on vid sites to promote Gore and am looking for a song for it. Any ideas? The only suggestion I've had is "One Moment in Time", but I'd like something a little less Whitney Houstonesque. lol

7. I meant it as a joke!
The title works, but the song -- not so much!

How about "Let's Get this Party Started."

10. Here are my contributions:
Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell
One - U2
Here comes the Sun - Beatles
Both Sides Now - Joni Mitchell

I am usually good at this kind of thing, but I am not coming up with the best song, yet.

that won the Academy Award. Kind of an obvious choice. I am actually surprised no one recommended it yet.

14. That song was written to tell us to wake up to the climate crisis and DO something

It obviously hasn't worked with some. Perhaps that is what people should be promoting if they really care about Mr. Gore instead of wasting time with songs to promote him.

13. (a week later) "just one victory" by todd rundgren.
"we've been waiting so long
we've been waiting so long
we've been waiting for the sun to rise & shine
shining still
give us the will"

"can you hear me
the sound of my voice?
i am here to tell you
i have made my choice

"Ive been listening to whats been going down
There's just too much talk and gossip going round
You may think that I'm a fool, but I know the answer
Words become a tool, anyone can use them
Take the golden rule, as the best example
Eyes that have seen will know what I mean

"The time has come to take the bull by the horns
We've been so downhearted, we've been so forlorn
We get weak and we want to give in
But we still need each other if we want to win

"Hold that line, baby hold that line
Get up boys and hit em one more time
We may be losing now but we cant stop trying
So hold that line, baby hold that line

"If you don't know what to do about a world of trouble
You can pull it through if you need to and if
You believe its true, it will surely happen
Shining still, to give us the will
Bright as the day, to show us the way

"Somehow, someday,
We need just one victory and were on our way
Prayin for it all day and fightin for it all night
Give us just one victory, it will be all right
We may feel about to fall but we go down fighting
You will hear the call if you only listen
Underneath it all we are here together shining still"

16. How about the Depression-era protest song, "This Land Is Your Land"?
Edited on Sun Mar-25-07 12:30 PM by kerstin
The original acoustic version sung by its author, populist/agitator/folk minstrel Woody Guthrie? In my mind, this works on more than a few levels as it relates to Gore.

You could even include that segment with Bush botching the "fool me once" adage. :P

But really, what images were you going to use. What's the theme? The song should reflect the theme.

18. Meat Loaf - "A Time For Heroes"
We search for an answer,
And when it appears
We can challenge the world with our sweat and our tears.
Through winning and losing,
The brave never bend,
The hero keeps fighting, standing tall in the end.

Time can change anything...and mend any fall.
The moment of truth is facing us all,
It's time for the hero to stand tall.

It's a time for heroes,
Time to answer the call,
It's a time for the hero in us all.

We carry the flame
For all to see
The fire and the passion, of what we can be.
Sometimes we must fight,
But we never bend
The hero keeps fighting, standing tall in the end.

Love can change anything...it's inside of us all
To reach out a hand whenever we fall.
It's time for the hero to stand tall.

It's a time for heroes,
Time to answer the call,
It's a time for the hero to stand tall.
It's a time for heroes,
When our back's to the wall
It's a time for the hero...in us all.

19. If you like musicals ... "This Is The Moment" is a great song
It's from "Jekyll & Hyde" - iTunes has a great version from last year's "Jekyll & Hyde Resurrection" CD. It's by Rob Evan and it has a very contemporary, power-ballad sound. Search for the song title or Rob Evan and you'll find it. :-)

This is the moment
This is the day,
When I send all my doubts and demons
On their way!

Every endeavor,
I have made - ever -
Is coming into play,
Is here and now - today

This is the moment,
This is the time,
When the momentum and the moment
Are in rhyme

Give me this moment -
This precious chance -
I'll gather up my past
And make some sense at last

This is the moment,
When all I've done -
All the dreaming,
Scheming and screaming,
Become one

This is the day -
See it sparkle and shine,
When all I've lived for
Becomes mine

For all these years,
I've faced the world alone,
And now the time has come
To prove to them
I've made it on my own

This is the moment -
My final test -
Destiny beckoned,
I never reckoned,
Second Best

I won't look down,
I must not fall!
This is the moment,
The sweetest moment of them all

This is the moment
Damn all the odds
This day, or never,
I'll sit forever
With the gods

When I look back,
I will always recall,
Moment for moment,
This was the moment,
The greatest moment
Of them all

20. "In your Time" - Bob Seger
It is an ode to the Earth.

Basically says long after we are gone, "after all the dead ends and lessons learned, there'll be peace and you'll be fine"

I hope its true. We can exterminate humankind for all I care; we seem hell-bent on doing so. But turning the the earth to a runaway-greenhouse hellhole like venus would be a shame. With any luck, either we'll heed the warnings and reverse the trend, or nature will prevail after all, and our damage will hurt us most, leaving the earth to recover from its transient infection of a runaway single-species population.

22. How about "We are the World"
There comes a time when we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
and its time to lend a hand to life
There greatest gift of all

We cant go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of Gods great big family
And the truth, you know,
Love is all we need

Chorus:
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So lets start giving
Theres a choice we're making
We're saving out own lives
its true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stones to brend
So we all must lend a helping hand

Chorus:
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So lets start giving
Theres a choice we're making
We're saving out own lives
its true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe theres no way we can fall
Let us realize that a change can only come
When we stand together as one

Chorus:
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So lets start giving
Theres a choice we're making
We're saving out own lives
its true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

24. Little Fighter by White Lion.
Edited on Fri Apr-27-07 04:15 AM by Jamastiene
The song is about Greenpeace. It suits him too, IMHO.

Little Fighter
by White Lion
album: Big Game (1989)

Are you cryin tonight?
Are you feelin all right?
I told the world that you were down on your luck

You were one of a kind
One who'd never give in
Even when they put a price on your head

Has anyone heard the tales you tell
Or seen the scars you wear
Did anyone speak up when you fell
Does anybody care

Rise again little fighter
And let the world know the reason why
Shine again little fighter
And dont let 'em end the things you do

And you were one with a cause
And a reason to be
You were a fighter for peace on this earth

And you were never afraid
You put your life on the line
And you were always alone out on the sea

Without a weapon in your hand
You came to fight a war
They took your life but didn't know
That you would never die

Rise again little fighter
And let the world know the reason why
Shine again little fighter
And don't 'em end things you do

Are you feelin alright?
Cause I care, care

Run along little fighter
Oh cause I was there beside you
Never stop believing, so rise
Rise
RISE!

Rise again little fighter
And let the world know the reason why
Shine again little fighter
And don't 'em end things you do

Rise again little fighter (Don't stop believing)
And let the world know the reason why
Shine again little fighter (And keep on moving)
And don't 'em end things you do

Yeah, don't let 'em ever end the things you do
