Gore's film vaulted him back into public view, where he took on the mantle of the elder statesman of environmentalism, revered by liberals as intensely as he is vilified by conservatives. Repeated calls by supporters for another presidential run have so far gone unanswered. Gore has only said, occasionally through family members, that a run is highly unlikely. We are listing him in our 2008 presidential candidate database because he has never strictly ruled out the possibility that he would enter the race.
