I'm here to support Al and to ask...
Edited on Sat Aug-04-07 06:02 PM by TwoSparkles
...what I can do to help draft Gore to run, and then get him elected?

I feel that it is Al's time. Our Constitution has been shredded, our
voting machines are corrupt and the majority of our elected representatives (both Dems
and Reps) are corrupt with corporate payoffs. Furthermore, we need Al's
wisdom and passion on environmental issues.

In my opinion, Al Gore is the perfect man at a most imperfect time in
American history. Our nation is crumbling and our system of government
has been fractured by corruption, lies, and politicians who have forgotten
"We The People". Al Gore has the experience and the intelligence. However, he
has something even more important. He's been out of the DC loop for a while.
No one owns him. He can make decisions based on what's best for the country
and for "We The People", instead of catering to big pharma, the oil industry
and an untold number of lobbyists with their greedy agendas.

I've never felt so strongly about a candidate. It's Al's time.
It's time for America to elect Al Gore.

Please let me know what I can to to make this happen. I am a stay-at-home
mom who was considering returning to my career this fall. My children will
return to school this August--and I'll be home alone. I would delay returning
to my career (public relations and media-relations consulting) to do
volunteer work of any kind. I'll write letters to the editor, make phone
calls, make copies, do the dishes...anything!

I'm so glad we have this Al Gore board at DU, and I look forward to working
together to draft and elect Al Gore for 2008.

1. There a number of things to do... just depends
on what kind of time you have at the moment. There are a few Draft Gore sites:

http://www.algore.org/ (heard the owner of this site talk last night - he knows Gore personally)

http://draftgore2008.org/

http://www.draftgore.com/

Volunteer, sign the petitions, get others to sign the petitions.

Bloggers for Gore info here: http://groups.google.com/group/bloggersforgore

And check back here regularly. Hopefully this forum will be kicking into high gear starting this week with more activity and discussion about his upcoming campaign (fingers crossed).

Welcome! :hi:

2. write letters, pass petitions, run as a delgate.
letters- one thing that they really wanted us to do was to keep al's name in the press. the media, we know, wants to narrow the field. with al hanging out there, they can't do that. i think that that is actually part of al's plan- keep the dialog open.

find out what the laws are in your state- in some states valid petitions can be circulated without a declaration from the candidate, and in some they cannot.

consider running as a gore delegate. the point of this, as well as petitions that don't have a legal weight are- you get out and talk to voters. that is a giant part of the plan.

to sum up what we were told- build a foundation for a people powered campaign. build it strong enough, and he will run.

3. Stay tuned for an announcement this coming week about
a new coalition of all of the draft groups under one umbrella organization.

Find a draft group in your area and get active!
